D23 Expo September 9-11, 2022 Superthread **Updates in Posts 2 & 3**

Agreed... there goes that plan. We'd save a whopping $54 total, which isn't nothing but I reeeeally don't know how long we'd even be in the parks until I see a schedule.

Its 3:45am where I am and just fought with ADRs at WDW for the last hour (and didn't even get what we wanted, which is what everyone wanted so I get it but still) so I'm going to sleep on this one some more.

Thank you for the $8 savings on my park ticket Disney. Now I can buy that churro I've always wanted.
I know, right?! Talked to DH today and we've decided that without a twilight ticket or anything comparable this year, we're not going to buy tickets. We'll still do Oogie Boogie Bash but that's it. I'm sad because I wanted to pop into Disneyland Park and see Fantasmic and the updated parade one night during the expo, but it's not worth $140! Oh well, next time

I just saw this and hoped someone had posted. This helps trying to plan a little bit on confirming the scheduled for Hall D23.

So how early would one need to get in line for those morning sessions on Saturday and Sunday? It's nice to have this schedule! Now I know I can plan on Friday being my shopping day, panels Saturday and Sunday morning (hopefully) and finish up any shopping and looking around the rest of the expo. The other panels just don't interest me and I can catch announcements on social media.

For Saturday morning, people will camp overnight. For Sunday probably around 5/6am. The use the basement hall (Hall E) to line people up overnight.

Thanks! So Saturday may not work out because I'm not a camp overnight type of person. :rotfl2:

Assuming they allow overnight camping. Technically, they didn't allow in 2019. So people kind of hovered and left and hovered again until they let people start lining up at some insane hour (that basement floor is hard). But these people were lining up for standby spots, since they did the reservation thing. Who knows if/how they will do reservations, standby, or overnight camping? So, we still don't know enough to really plan.

If Marvel is more popular than the Parks that works well for me, but is that right..? Parks is less popular by that many hours?

I wonder if they put it on Sunday to throw people off or to finish selling off the Sunday tickets, lol

Ha! I'm the opposite. I feel like I'll hear about the Star Wars/Marvel and Parks later and don't need to be in the room for that. Meanwhile, I want to see the musical performances Sunday night. And also, the Disney Legends ceremony, assuming the awardees are interesting folks (and partly because Chapek is hosting it and I imagine people will boo and that might be funny to watch).

But I've never been to the expos before so I don't know what I'm missing at the Hall events. I just know I'm definitely not getting there at the crack of dawn it earlier, so hopefully the panels in the other rooms are interesting 😆

I wonder if this particular early September one would be more or less crowded due to it only being open to members..? Is anything else special about it? (I haven't gotten the email yet).

I don't think anything else is special about it, but it is cool imo that they're setting aside a night for the D23 attendees. Oogie Boogie doesn't usually run on Saturdays, so this may be an added night that the event wouldn't normally have. So it could be more crowded if they raise the capacity to accommodate more D23 members, but I would think the cap would be the same. In which case, it shouldn't be more crowded because they'll all sell out.

I wonder if Thursday and Sunday will also have the regular parties as I expected (based on last year's schedule). If so, you could choose to go to one of those if you think the Saturday even will be more crowded.

ETA: we did Oogie Boogie Bash last year and really enjoyed it, more than we have enjoyed Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom in the past (although we are also doing that this September, lol). The characters at Oogie Boogie are awesome.

We're arriving on Thursday and leaving Sunday, so its our only real option either way.... just wondering if its worth it with everything else we already have going on. I'm sure DL will be as much of if not more of a mad house that night anyway with all the folks NOT going to the party so it probably makes sense if we are able to get tickets!

Is it for D23 attendees or D23 members? There are a lot of D23 members that don't attend D23 but I assume this is restricted to Gold members?
In my experience, these events that are marketed as "exclusive" to a group of people are actually more crowded than normal events. But I mostly have experience from passholder events, not D23.
