D23 Expo 2011! Who's attending?

What "Marvel" are you referring to? I don't see it on the schedule that is on the website, was there a blog or something that mentioned it?

Also that will not be the only thing going on at that time. There are two stages, plus 3-5 exhibits that are going on constantly. Plus Saturday is the day for the Disney Studios presentation which will probably be one of the better shows.

Arena presentations will include:"

All this indicates to me that there is much more to come. However, at this point, it is probably not a good idea to encourage people to come to the Expo since it will be more heavily attended than the last one. So I think you're both right, the less days to go the better, it is not worth the hassle to attend or the fees!

I live 25 minutes away and I've got a hotel room and sprung for the Premier pass, but perhaps it's not worth it for anyone else to go! Maybe those of us who were at the first one are expecting too much, but if you didn't experience the first one you can't imagine how many surprises and great presentations they worked into every day. I kick myself for being too tired to stay for any of the evenings. If I had missed any one day of that show I would have been more than disappointed, however, I had friends who I thought were Disney fanatics that went one day and felt it was enough, so I guess to each his own.

I am not giving this thing an entire weekend (sorry, but.....)

However, I will have to be in California either the week of the convention or the week after and could squeeze a day onto that trip...

(Sadly my experience with Disney leads me think that this one will not be as "special" as the first one. They tend to realize "gee folks will spend a lot even if we provide less" )

The Marvel Studios thisng is listed as the Arena presentation on Sunday, along with Disney Channel:

Depending on what else is going on I may do both..it's amazing how the idea of NOT having lines make presentations more appealing.

Exactly..I'm expecting the same level, or more, of amazement this year. People who weren't there last time just don't get it..the descriptions of the events sound ok..:yadayadblahblahyada" but BEING there and then another surprise pops up and then another...well..they WAY underpromised and OVER delivered. Hopefully they can at least match that.

Well, I just played around with my schedule and I think Friday is out! I am now going to come in on Wed and stay to the next Wed so I think I may actually just give Disney the weekend and go Saturday and Sunday. I will have to work Friday and since the Expo closes at 7 it's just not worth it.

Amazingly i was able to get the Shearton Park right by the Convention center for around $115 a night which is well within my companies comfort level so....

I love Marvel stuff, and I was telling friends last night that is will be and a bunch of nerdy guys at that one? (me, 50 year old Mom, haha)


Can't wait for the Expo. and I saw the preview for LK 3-D at the Cars 2 movie, and it looked AMAZING to me. I really want to see LK at the Expo.

I am not interested in the Disney Channel stuff though.

I'm a SoCal local also, and I'm very torn at which days to go to. We have the Grand Californian DVC reservation for Friday night, and was just considering doing Saturday for the Lion King 3d...but reading through the schedule, I am torn.

Also, do you know if they will be having any transport from GC to the expo?

Last expo they had a shuttle from GC to the convention center. It also stopped at DL hotel and PP. I believe you could buy tickets for all days or just individual days as well.

Are most people going all 3 days? We haven't really decided which day, but probably won't do all 3. We did go last time and loved it; especially the Toy Story 3 sneak peak!

I would suggest that you attend Friday & Saturday so that you don't miss anything. You can always decide to purchase a ticket for Sunday, so leave that day open in your schedule. If you are not wowed you can always go home since you live close enough.

I may not do a full day on Sunday as the two arena presentations aren't that interesting to me. I am beyond excited. I lived in Cali as a child and went to Disneyland every year until I was 12 and only one visit as an adult - 25 years ago!

I also get in on Sunday, we will do parks Mon, Tues, Thur. Weds going out to visit Imagineering and Burbank studio, and maybe the El Capitan theatre and Mickeys Soda Shoppe. Will you be at GC or GCV? We will be at DL Hotel

I thought I would compile a list and keep updating it as more people join in because I'm curious to see who all is going. If you indicated where you are staying, I'll put that info too. I'm sure as the Expo gets closer more people will be looking for information.

I'm gleaning this information from the posts in this thread, if you didn't specifically mention you purchased one of the special packages, I've put you down as a General Ticket Holder, if that's a mistake, let me know.

Just to let you know, we'll be at the PP. It was cheaper but still get to try out a Disneyland resort
