Downtown Disney will undergo a major renovation that will see the popular Earl of Sandwich shop, the former AMC Theaters and other stores demolished to make way for a new midcentury modern-designed addition to the Anaheim shopping mall next to Disneyland. What's the news about a DTD refresh? I may have missed that.
You could also use an App like Stocard on your watch to show your barcode. The FP scan machines were able see and scan the barcode on your watch. This would be epic. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t provide any access to NFC on the Apple Watch… yet. Of course, Apple has provided some special API access before to Disney so you never know.
I surprised. I though WDW was moving away from magicbands and focusing on the app.

Work will begin in January on a multi-year project that will reimagine the Downtown Disney outdoor shopping center, according to Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro.
MBs make it easier for people to spend money. Think about it, you really don't need it for LLsI surprised. I though WDW was moving away from magicbands and focusing on the app.

Didn't see any exact dates mentioned, just said work will start in January. Hopefully, it won't be one of the first things to go.Did they say the actual date that Earl would be closing? Does "January 2022" mean 1/1/22? We're going in early January and really are disappointed that Earl might be unavailable.![]()
With NFC? I am assuming you are talking about a bar code of some sort. The Apple Watch works to enter the parks.

I was imagining it working like a Magicband: no need to launch an app or open up Apple Pay, just tap and go. Like Apple has implemented for transit cards in some cities.

(The + means it’s no longer free to anyone and costs even more than before!)
WDW was moving away from free magic bands. The App is just another tool that does more than just a MF.I surprised. I though WDW was moving away from magicbands and focusing on the app.
Yes, old MBs will still work.Does anyone know if our old MagicBands will still work? I don't want to buy any more, lol.
Yes, that's the way it works at WDW. NFC, not a bar code. Just like the transit cards. With NFC? I am assuming you are talking about a bar code of some sort.

It's WDW's MagicMobile thing:

In the case of the Apple Watch, you add the MagicMobile pass to your Apple Wallet and then you're able to use NFC to tap in at the gates.
There is a setting in the app you turn on to activate the pass on your Apple Watch. Once you've done that it works just like a MB. No need to open the app to pull up the card. No need to open the wallet. Just tap the watch on the touch point. So it's like adding a credit card/event ticket to your Apple Wallet?
If it works at the gate, wouldn't it also work at LL scanners?
Still a bit more time consuming than just 'tap and go' a MB as you'd still have to open the app, pull up the 'card/ticket', then scan. But definitely better than having to dig for a phone.
And Lord knows I've mistakenly tried to scan in with my watch many times!
