D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

But yes, you are right - I'll be there in spirit and look forward to all the pics!

I was just thinking, perhaps we should try to have an alternative virtual meet on this thread while the others are in DC for everyone who can't travel to the real meet? Would you be up for that?? :goodvibes

Trip related prayer request...

I have my follow up dr appointment regarding my plantar fascitis this afternoon...please pray for that! I am really hoping he will just give me a shot of cortisone in my feet and that it will be good to go for the trip! :woohoo: But I am nervous!

Sending prayers! I hope your foot will heal as it should! :goodvibes

Weather update....

Just wanted you guys to know that we have a spinning swirlie!

Oh no!! Go away spinning swirlie!!! :scared1:

Brook... I'm so disappointed, but understand your reasoning completely. I'm bummed because I've been bragging to my hubby that I get to meet Henry and his parents! :rotfl2:

I missed your reply earlier! Sorry about that!
That is very sweet! I hope we get to meet another time!!!

It's much past "this afternoon" now, but I hope it all went well.

Weather update....

Just wanted you guys to know that we have a spinning swirlie!

Right now it is "named" 94L and is not even a tropical depression yet and may never be...but since the "models" show it dumping rain on us here in MS later this week - I guess I will watch it.

Spinning swirlie! I just like to say that. It cracks me up.

Anyway...headed to the dr! But just had to stop in and tell you about the spinning swirlie.

Disappear swirlie, disappear!!!! :sad2:

I was just thinking, perhaps we should try to have an alternative virtual meet on this thread while the others are in DC for everyone who can't travel to the real meet? Would you be up for that?? :goodvibes

I think that's a great idea! Does anyone in the group have a phone that can access the internet? It would be fun to "chat" with ya'll while you are there and we are here!!!

This is sad. I only have time to answer your questions lately...

Answer: Jiko on Sept 9th!

You'll have to let me know how you like it :goodvibes

Wow! I just looked at your ticker and can't believe you have less than a month! Awesome. :goodvibes

Oopsie, just lost all my responses- TAKE 2

Yes, we're down to so few days!! I know they are all going to just fly by with far too much to do in each one!

Memoria Refreshoria.......tennies, socks, skirt, carousel.... :scared1: Just hoping you don't do the tennies and socks look when donning the belly dancer attire!!! :rotfl2:

I didn't realize I had missed two questions. I thought it was only one... :confused3

Now for todays question.

I will try to remember that. ;)

OK, I"ll go back and look!! I had to go back like 25 pages to find all your responses- MAN, that takes FORVER!!!!!

Today: :thumbsup2

Accidental self-induced insomnia--I drank caffeine after lunch... :sad2:

I did that last week too! Sux, cuz you know you're going to pay for it the next day!

Is this the glass shop in the Germany pavilion? When is that closing to make way for the Werther's shop?

Those were all taken in Italy!! So pretty!

Brook... I'm so disappointed, but understand your reasoning completely. I'm bummed because I've been bragging to my hubby that I get to meet Henry and his parents! :rotfl2:

I am too, but know that just before a trip, you really have to watch that budget!

They can be found almost everywhere. We saw them in the Pop gift shop and many other stores around property.

OK so these things really have blown up!! More ways for Disney to make TRILLIONS of dollars. First plushes, then pins, now these! :sad2:

Everyone is different, but I thought the Tangerine Dream was nasty.

It is funny how there are so many tastes out there! KathyRN raved about it, and says they pack plenty of POW as well! ;)

My answer is ], although I don't really have much chance of winning. :headache:

But you should keep playing cuz, you never know when the competition is going to choke! And it's fun. ;)

ahh nuts that means i was wrong, i think since glenn has so many points im just going to start answering,

"What glenn said":thumbsup2

You can sure tell the competitive one around here! :lmao:

'Ohana means digestive instability. I'm a realist. Moving on.

How about you guess where we're all eating on Sept 9th?

OK, everyone's coming to your house for brisket. THey'll bring the salads, and bread, and you'll provide the digestive instability. :rotfl2:

That could very well work then at MK, we have a breakfast ressie and like to take it slooooooow, but methinks it would be possible to be there before noon! And yes, my first time ever on HM. Why? A few reasons - I don't like ghosts, so it never interested me at first. Then I found out it was classic Disney, so it piqued my interest a bit. But the whole "ghost" thing. Then we have a child who I don't want riding that until he's older...and Joe has ZERO interest in it. So, it's always just been bypassed....and I kinda have forgotten about it the last couple trips. LL assures me that its' completely campy and not scary, but I'm still nervous. The beginning of ToT is the WORST! But I LOVE the drops, so it's worth it!

Yes, this ride is full of kitschy fun!!! The only scene that COULD be scary is the graveyard scene, but even that is full of punny fun. And who can resist Thurl Ravenscroft's voice!?

OK, I'll give a call then, too. I imagine we may have a few more tricks up our sleeves when this is all said and done. :)

The heat is sooooo difficult to run in. Ugh. The other day it was, by some miracle, in the 70s here and running was fantastic! Last night it was 85, not too bad, but it was a lot harder than the 70s. I might have to repeat this week...we'll see.

I do know!! I'm supposed to be getting my shorts on right now!! It's just way too hot in the evenings!

I couldn't believe the prices...! I checked all the different bus services and the train. The train was actually the cheapest at $122 for the 3 of us!

Would it be too much to just make it a day trip??

But yes, you are right - I'll be there in spirit and look forward to all the pics! And I can't wait to meet you in our Happy Place! ::yes:: :yay:

Maybe setting up that virtual meet would be fun! We need to look into our techno capabilities!

My answer:

:thumbsup2

I so hope there is a Peepfest! We've been planning on it. The Princess 1/2 is on my radar as well, a girlfriend and I fully plan to do it dressed as princesses! She's never been to WDW, her hubs has NO interest, so I'm gonna take her on a Girl's Trip! :thumbsup2

THAT sounds like fun!!! I could totally wear a tiara and run! (AND clothes, Marv!)

It's true! I had a Great Ohana Debacle of 2008. :sad2: Even still, that was some GOOD food. I'd go back and risk it! (I'd just eat less this time!)

That sounds somewhat painful! I think I'd risk quite a lot for peel and eat shrimpies!!

Your such a nut GB. :goodvibes

Yeaaaaa for the cell phone Mama! Be sure I'm on the list of PM's you'll send out with the number. Pleeeeease. :goodvibes

Will do!!

Ok...It is JIKO! I think.....

You need a CAt pix Liessa

Is that something like a whirling dervish? No spinning, whirling, or twisting until you are on the rides!!!

Works for me! If we really want a bang, I'll make my cajun brisket. (Skip the marinade, change up the dry rub, sear it on the grill, then slow roast.). It's dang good eating, but it'll destabalize even the heartiest constitution.

I had hope to catch you on Liesa, I should know better when your almost out the door to leave to greater regions. I pray over you now a blessed move, that all your things end up where they are suppose to be, that Father God will watch over you and yours while your moving about the world....literally.
I also pray Father God will give you all super natural rest once your in the states so you'll be prepared for your trip to WDW. Also, Father bless hubby with an outstanding job (if you haven't already) so he can take care of his beautiful wife and children You've so richly blessed him with. All in Your precious Son's name! AAAAAMEN! :lovestruc
I love you Liesa, take care and call me, PM me or send carrier pigeons (via Mary) to let me know you've made it to Germany and the States okay. Please. :flower3:
Love! Love! Love!

Oh, that would be fun to actually get intouch with the people at the meet while it was happening! I was more thinking about having a seperate virtual meet for those who are back home. Would it be possible to set up a conference call through Skype?

And can you imagine the effects of a mass destabilization?? Sure you don't want us over one at a time??

Ooooo, I'm in! :thumbsup2

THANK YOU!!! T minus 3 days and counting! Today was a real kick!!

After 2 years, I finally got a Christmas present promised to me!! A Chinese restaurant opened here a few years back (and since then has gone down the crapper) and my DH had the wonderful, yet unachievable idea of asking the cook to give me private Chinese cooking lessons. That never happened, but as you know, we've had a group of 6 Chinese youth here for some outreach work. I invited them over to share a meal with us, and to give me some lessons at the same time.

When they showed up they were prepared to make 9 DISHES!!!! :scared1: They shopped from 9:00 til 11:00 with Mikki, then they cooked from 11:00 til 2:00 and we devoured almost every single bite!!! They just now left at 3:30!! Let's see, I learned how to make eggplant, spicy beef with peppers, cashew chicken, chicken wing soup with potatoes (VERY spicy!), scrambled eggs and tomatoes, and of course rice. It was amazing!!

So funny that I can live "next door" for 10 years, and not ever meet one single Chinese person. Their own border control told them to just turn around and go back home, as this country could offer them nothing, there was NOTHING to see or do, etc.... They left here by telling us that the beauty of this place is in the people, and their firm faith in VERY difficult circumstances.

People--- can I tell you now that I can leave this place with a full heart, hope for their future, and having been touched in deep places. Today was a good day!

It would be fun.... but as much as I'm a wanna be techy, I"m not. Someone else is going to have to take the lead on this one. :confused3:confused3

Wow, I used to make Chinese food at home all the time, but did it using a cookbook. How great to have it taught to you firsthand!! I bet it was all fantastic (although I don't know why anyone would ruin scrambled eggs like that  )

We ate at a place about 45 minutes away Sunday for lunch and it was great as usual. :thumbsup2 Wish it was close enough to go more often.

What a great sentiment, and so happy you are ending your stay like this! Hopefully your last days will bring you many more fulfilling times and heighten all of your great memories there! :goodvibes

Very good! - what a wonderful present to you to experience this on one of your last days there. :goodvibes

Good Evening, my Early Bird and Lunchtime posting Friends!!! That indeed is very odd that we can all be on such different time zones!!!

The ingredients are so simple- much more so than say Thai or Pakistani!! So yummy. I think we used about 4 heads (NOT just cloves) of garlic!! WOW!!

I've seen that egg dish before around here before- I think it's actually quite common in China. Do you like eggdrop soup??

Yes, ending this way was such a sweet song to my soul. A gift for me in these last hours. :cloud9:

This sounds wonderful! You must have had a lot of fun cooking together. :goodvibes And the dishes sound delicious. popcorn::

We sure did- pix below!

I knew you had thought about this specifically for me- prayers were answered. ;)

This was the gift they gave me when leaving. Isn't it beautiful!!?? These are handcut by craftsmen in China- to cut one takes him/her about 1/2 an hour. I really feel like I have now done the China Pavilion as far as food, souvenirs and interaction with locals. Amazing- that before I even get to WS this time, I'll have "experienced" BOTH China AND Germany!!!

Love eggdrop soup! I have actually made it before, but it has been a while!

Chinese food is very easy to make. Most of the time is spent preparing what is going in the dish! I did wontons once for wonton soup, but I don't think I'll ever do that again. It took "forever" to make everything needed to stuff the wontons!!! Of course, it might have had to do with the fact I was using the same "equipment" to try and make egg rolls at the same time....
We sure did- pix below!
Wow, some of those dishes look fantastic! Don't ever remember zucchini being one of the ingredients in my cookbook though...

Okay, you mentioned that someone commented about meeting you and they said you were shorter than they expected. How short do you have to be to make a group of Chinese people look really tall??? :rotfl2:

Wow, what a fantastic keepsake! Somehow I don't think you are going to be as impressed with anything you find in the WS now!!! :)

Then unless it's the tomato flavor you don't like, you'd probably like this!! It's really good over the rice.

You are VERY right. We spent the majority of the time slicing and dicing. They kept telling me that I really didn't have the right kind of pot to cook in; you HAVE to have a thin wok and a high flame to make it come out right they say.

Eggrolls are so tasty homemade. It's the rolling them and frying that takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R!!!

Wow, some of those dishes look fantastic! Don't ever remember zucchini being one of the ingredients in my cookbook though...

They told me that they typically eat MANY, MANY kinds of veggies almost always flash fried with garlic, a TINY bit of soy, sometimes a tiny bit of sugar and of course a bit of oil- either sesame or other.

Okay, you mentioned that someone commented about meeting you and they said you were shorter than they expected. How short do you have to be to make a group of Chinese people look really tall??? :rotfl2:

HAHAAH!!! "Ruth" the one standing next to me was about my height- the others were quite a bit taller. They (all 6) were Han Chinese and were about 5'6" or taller.

I remember that- it was when I met maroo the first time. :lmao::lmao::lmao: I retorted that she was taller that I thought she'd be. :rotfl2:

Wow, what a fantastic keepsake! Somehow I don't think you are going to be as impressed with anything you find in the WS now!!! :)

I forgot to mention that the lettering means something like "blessing" or such.

That's awesome that you got your cooking lesson! As you know, I've tried to arrange something similar for Judy (only Indian food) on two occasions, only to have it fall through.

The pictures look like everyone is having a great time cooking, and the results look delicious.
