Hi my family is planning a trip next summer to d.c. My children are 16,13, and 4. Will the four of us be able to do the dolphin swim or will one of us have to stay with the four year old. I know he is not old enough to do the dolphin swim and I was wondering how it works with a young child. tonton

I would call DC and ask if you can. From what I saw a couple of weeks ago, they would probably assign you to 2 different swim times so you can trade off staying with the 4 yo. Depending on the trainer, you might be able to let him/her come in with you for a group pic and to briefly touch the dolphin.

I would suggest you split your swim, maybe one parent/one child on each swim. It's great to watch the kids enjoy themselves. It's worth asking the trainers if your 4 y old can pet the dolphin once you've finished the swim. The trainers are (usually) very understanding that the little ones can't take part in the swim but like to feel part of the action.
