D’Amaro named next CEO

Just a note, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was not a Disney film. There were definitely other non-Disney family movies too, but Disney's were usually the biggest and most well-known.

Interesting , didn't realize that.

I had always just assumed with Dick Van Dyke at that point in time it was. I looked and it was United Artists.

Learn something new every day!

I definitely want new ideas too. People just won't take a risk on that stuff anymore though.
For me, it is not so much taking a risk on something new. It is more why do I want to spend an arm and a leg going to a movie in a theater (I haven't seen a movie in a theater since Dec 2019), when I can wait roughly 45 to 60 days and see it on one of the streaming services that I have.

That is how I've been watching any of the latest Disney or WB releases (been watching them on either D+ or HBO).

Disney's current cash cow are the parks. They are the most consistently profitable part of the company so it makes sense to elevate the person running those to be CEO and continue the gravy train.

With that said, not much will change and as many hope that we get the perks that made Disney stand out from the competition back (free Fastpass, Magical Express, longer magic hours, etc.), we will not under this guy.

It'll be more of the same. Finding ways to squeeze as much money out of people in the name of "improving the guest experience."

Will he be as bad as Chapek, no, but he's not the savior we're looking for.

I have a top of the line OLED tv with good sound and there are still movies that just can’t be experienced the same at home than in the theater.

Dune or top gun maverick as examples.

Certain movies are just better at the big screen.

I’ll never go to a theater where you can’t reserve seats that recline though

I won't disagree that is just not the same as seeing it in a theater, but it is still not enough for me to go back. For me the bang for my buck is just not there any longer.

Disney under Bob Iger 2.0 has also understood that more than Chapek did. Chapek was in a rush to get content to streaming to push sub growth which Wall Street was enamored with over profits at the time because it was perceived by Wall Street to provide solid ROI (WS is in that same scenario now with AI that is still in the ROI promise phase but starting to shift as results aren’t meeting expectations).

Disney since Iger has returned has had the longest theatrical window of the major studios, because they know the theatrical is still a worthwhile way to gauge content interest on top of their streaming data. While theatrical is still in limbo like linear they know it’s still necessary to use for other facets of the company.

Yeah, but they can still do it. In fact they should.
Probably going to have to wait until after Cars and Villains are done and the available food offerings increase.

Despite its known history of being subpar to awful food wise, shutting down Cosmic Rays for months for remediation with it being the highest revenue generator and capacity for guests isn’t just a let’s just do it undertaking.

And there also comes a point where you have to bite the bullet and take care of the issue.

If it’s left alone and is currently contained though it’s not an issue. It’s once you go in and make the changes to the interior that code will dictate the remediation of what’s there.

And they somehow can't do that? I am fairly sure that they can. I agree that we probably have to wait until the other side of the park is open, but it is still something that needs to be addressed eventually.

Because it’s a shared building once they touch some of it for those level of changes they’ll have to go through and remediate all of it based on current code.

They didn’t have to do that when they changed from Alien to Stitch because they were classified as cosmetic changes and code had more exceptions then.
