As anyone been to this theme park? If so is it easy to get to from international drive, without a car. My brother and myself are going april 2007, hopefully going to do, all the disney parks, seaworld, busch gardens and universal, would there be time for a visit to cyprus gardens as well, or do the water parks instead?

We went to Cypress Gardens last September and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is far less sophisticated than the Orlando parks but there are lots of rides that the kids loved, the gardens and butterfly house are beautiful (watch out for the fountain statue that suddenly comes to life) and the shows, entertainments and water ski displays are very good. :cheer2:

Check our www.cypressgardens.com

We went by car and the drive south on route 27 was not at all enjoyable: lots of heavy trucks and roadworks :headache: (it was the main north-south Florida road before the turnpike was built and is still preferred by truck drivers because it has no tolls). There is an Amtrak rail service between Orlando and Winter Haven but I don't think that the service would allow you to travel there and back on the same day with a reasonable stay at Cypress Gardens - see www.amtrak.com for schedule.

There may also be a greyhound bus but I suspect that you will probably need to hire a car for a day.

Hope this helps

Have a great time

Hi Simon and welcome to the Dis :)

I can't help with your question though unfortunately. I know you can get shuttle buses from Orlando to Busch Gardens but I've not come across any info on this for Cypress Gardens.

I think Cousin B's advice about renting a car for the day is an excellent one, always assuming you are happy to do that :)

miffy,

thanks for the information and welcome, I dont really want to hire a car, maybe will do for the next trip, as most people say one trip to orlando is never enough

Hi there Simon. There is, sadly, no public transport that would get you to Cypress Gardens, but you could certainly book a trip with one of the Towncar companies which would probably be cheaper than a taxi and not a lot more than hiring a car for the day (as well as very convenient). Look up one of the companies mentioned here on the DIS (Fl Tours, Tiffany Town cars) or another company we recommend, Quick Transportation (www.quicktransportation.com), who specialise in helping out Brits with one-off travel needs. CG is a pretty good day out these days, and is very family orientated, but it lacks the real high-powered thrill rides of Busch Gardens and Islands of Adventure.

PS: The roadworks out that way on Highway 27 are still hugely off-putting, especially if you are driving yourself.

Hi Simon,

many thanks for the information, I will look at the links provided
