Hello again; Thanks to all who answered my previous post concerning accomodations.

We thought we had it narrowed down to the Doubletree guest suites or the Buena Vista suites. But we read some positive reviews about the Cypress Point Resort and are now wondering if this would be a nicer place to stay.

I understand the Cypress Point Resort is the "older" side of this property but a price search on HotelKingdom.com showed a price almost $20 a night cheaper than either of our other two choices.

The pictures I am seeing of the cypress resort look so nice that I am a bit sceptical about the lower price. As if I am missing the "catch". Can anyone shed light on this?

Is it as nice as the Doubletree or the Buena Vista?
How are the Beds??
How are the staff at resolving problems??

Thanks to all. This board is a wonderful wealth of information.

The only "catch", if you can call it that, is that the price on hotelkingdom.com doesn't include daily housekeeping. We were there for 11 days last August and our villa was never cleaned nor anything replenished while we were there (but it was immaculate when we checked in). However, some people on here lately have said that they booked through hotelkingdom and received a midweek cleaning, so perhaps they are now including that in the price. But you're not going to get daily maid service unless you pay extra (alot extra) for it. If you need clean towels you have to wash them (every unit has a washer/dryer) and if you need soap or toilet paper, you'll have to buy it. However, the place is every bit as nice as the pictures. As far as the beds, I'm not the best person to ask, as DH and I share a dinky double bed at home so the king-sized bed felt like heaven to us. I do have a bad back, though, and I had no problems with it while we were there. Regarding the staff, I didn't have that much interaction with them as the only problem we had was that the icemaker didn't work when we checked in. I did have to tell them twice about it, but they sent someone immediately after I called the second time. And the first time that I told them, we were on our way out and didn't come back til late that evening when we found it was still broken. It may be that they wouldn't send someone to fix it without us present. And as far as Cypress Pointe being the older side, all of the villas were refurbished in the past year, so the "older" side may actually be nicer than the newer side now (with the exception that the Grand Villas buildings have elevators, while the older buildings don't). I can't compare CP to Doubletree or BVS as I haven't stayed in either one, but I'm sure you'll have more room at CP than you would in either of those. Be aware, though, that CP is more like a motor inn, in the respect that all rooms are entered from the outside. If you prefer more of a hotel, with interior corridors, you would probably be more comfortable in one of the other places. Also, you will be asked to attend a time share presentation, but they will not press the issue if you say no. I don't know why this place is so consistently cheaper than other places in the same class, but there is no catch, really. We thought it was great and would gladly stay there again.

Hi--

We have stayed twice at Cypress Pointe. I don't know anything about the other two places. We have no complaints at all with CP. We are used to renting condos and houses and never stay in motels. We are not used to a "staff". We check in and the only time we would see any staff is if there was a plumbing problem or such. We have never had such a problem at CP, so never interacted with the staff there. Check-in and check-out were fine.
We slept just fine as we were so tired. Staying in a time-share condo is different from staying in a motel. It is more like renting a furnished apartment for the week. We love it and would have it no other way. CP is a clean, close, safe, cheap place to stay. And they have a great pool. Good luck in your decision!

There is no "catch" renting CP through hotelkingdom. I understand your concern because I couldn't understand why it was so cheap either,,,I still think its a steal for that price. It does not have daily housekeeping but that is common in a timeshare and has nothing to do with CP. We were there 11 days last Feb and they came in twice anywise. Once to change sheets and towels and left us extra toiletries and another to do a full clean. There is a booth when you check-in that will give you lots of maps and coupons and ask you if you want a timeshare presentation, just say no thanks.

There are not many suites in a building so when you leave you room, you are in an open staircase where you can leave exit on either side of the building, I think this makes it quieter than a walking past a row of rooms.

I haven't been to the other places you mentioned. The beds were fine, we had no issues there and the check in/out staff were fast and efficient. We never had any problems that needed resolving.

This is a link to our stay Feb 9-19 in a 2 bdrm.
