Going to a conference in Orlando which is being held at Caribe Royale. I have stayed many times there with family (pre-DVC membership when I admitted my Disney addiction-haha). My friend/colleague though has a timeshare she has to use and booked us into Cypress Pointe Grande Villas and assured me it is close to WDW and the Caribe as I want to work and play when I can. Anyone stay here before? Thoughts?

We're staying there next month. I'm very excited about the volcano!

I have and we love it!!! The proximity to downtown disney is about a 5 min drive, if that! Out the back entrance you can be in Seaworld in another 5. Wish I could have found a rental there for March of this year, but alas they are booked!

Just an FYI - the former Cypress Pointe Grandvilla's took a new name effective 9/1/11 - Grande Villas Resort. It is the same resort, location and still shares all the common areas with Cypress Pointe Resort (home of the signature Volcano pool) but each resort now has a distinctive name to help avoid confusing the two.

We love the location and the resort features. You are close to virtually everything. You should have a great time.

It's about 3 miles, or so, from the Grande Villas to Caribe Royale, down SR 535. Generally a lot of traffic in that stretch with seven or eight traffic lights along the route. It takes 10-15 minutes to drive, depending on the traffic.

I think that the resort is nice and the location is excellent (a couple of miles from Downtown Disney, easy drive via Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road to SeaWorld and Universal) to enjoy the theme parks. The last time we were there, the units were okay but in need of refurbishment (not sure if they've addressed that yet). We'd go back without hesitation.
