We are staying at Marriott's Cypress Harbour from 1/28-2/4/08. Any suggestions on where to request a room? Most importantly we want to be able to park near our room, as we're driving to and from the parks each day (they don't offer a shuttle, right?!?). We'd also like to be somewhat near a pool. Do you have any suggestions?

How long will it take to get to the WDW parks? How early will I need to leave to make sure we get to our 8:05 BBB (in MK) reservations in time?

Is there a grocery store nearby?

Are there any restaurants onsite or nearby?

Do they offer many fun activities for the kids(11, 9 & turning 7)? What kinds?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I've never actually stayed in Cyprus Harbor, but I literally live next door, just across the golf course.

Publix is the best local grocery store, not more than two minutes away. Take a left out of the entrance onto Westwood Blvd, then take a right on International Drive (at the 7-11). Publix will be on the right just before the next light, in with a a Walgreens, Subway and some other small shops.

I would allow at least 30-35 minutes to actually get inside MK, just because of the ferry/monorail. I can usually be in Epcot, which is also closer, within 15-20 minutes, and Downtown Disney within 10.

There are a few restaurants down Westwood, but other than Flippers Pizza, nothing I would recommend. You are better off checking out the parade of restaurants along 535 (just one exit west I-4) or, for nicer options, Sand Lake Road.

There's parking at each of the buildings, so any location would meet that criteria. There are two large pool area ( connected by the foot bridge that crosses the lake) and another small pool area near the buildings that are close to the activities center. Buildings 63, 64 and 65 are near the so-called island pool area (community pool, lap pool, hot tub, sauna) Buildings 52 and 53 are on either side of the check-in area and the main pool (also close to the Marketplace convenience store, pizza hut express, kiddie pool, hot tub). Buildings 50 -57 area in this general area too. Building 62 is closest to the activities center (boats, bikes, surrey bikes, mini golf, shuffle board, table tennis, etc.). Buildings 66 and up are a little removed from the main resort section, I think all of these buildings have golf course views. We like Building 62 as it looks out over the lake and is adjacent to the seemingly little-used, almost private pool area.
There is no restaurant at the resort. I agree with Jason71 that there are a lot of restaurant as you make your way toward Downtown Disney. Follow his directions to the Publix store but keep going on Vineland Ave toward Rt. 535. Just before you get to the intersection you'll see a Bahama Breeze and a Golden Corrall on the right. There's a Landry's Seafood and a steakhouse (can't remember the name) on the left. There are a few chain restaurants on 535 to the left (toward Vistana Resorts) from the intersection and many more to the right (beyond the I-4 overpass). Then there's a whole bunch of them at DTD.

Thank you both for your information.

Jason71- Since you live near there maybe you can recommend a good pizza joint. I know we'll want to spend a night or two kicking back in the room playing games and eating good pizza. Any suggestions for someone who delivers?

Detailor - Do you know which buildings you can see the SW fireworks from? Thanks for all your building info.

you have a 8:05 BBB - that may be a problem. they only let onsite guest in early. So you might need to speak to a supervisor - definitely bring your reservation number and a contact.

so I would go for at least an hour.

just getting to the MK can take 45 minutes. you have to park then take the tram - then transfer to the ferry or monrail.

then you will have to argue with someone to let you in before the park opens.

that won't be fun - but if you have proof - go for it!!!

which means you need to be first in the line.

Cypress Harbor is a beautiful resort and you'll enjoy it. We've stayed their twice. First time we stayed in 52 by the main pool and loved it. Second time we requested that area but they put us in the back of the resort. Hated it. Our view was of a golf cart road, and it felt very removed from the resort. I can't remember the number but it was one of the higher numbers. We actually requested to be moved the next day and they put us in a villa very close to the quiet pool (literally in the backyard so to speak) and a beautiful view of the lake. Although it was a 5 minute walk to the main clubhouse area the lake view from our window was super and we really enjoyed it there. Have a great time!!

I'd love to hear about your experience when you get back - we're going in April, and I am also trying to decide where to request. There's a map on their website - from resort amenities, there's a link to "resort map" in the middle of the page. I like the look of the island pool myself.

Also, it appears there is a pizza hut onsite.

When I made my BBB reservation (before opening) the cm told me to make sure I had my confirmation number and we would be let into MK early. I don't see how they would keep you out if you have the conf. #.

they only let onsite guest in early.
I've done this. You can speak to the CM in the monorail/ferry plaza at the TTC, and they will let you board the Resort monorail. You will want to bring your ADR details, though.

we stayed there a few years back and they were in the process of renovating the whole resort. Our kids really liked the themed paddle boats, but they had a lot of activities for kids of all ages. They also gave a calendar of events for the week when we checked in.

According to Mapquest, they're ~3 miles apart. Turn LEFT out of the Resort onto Westwood, turn RIGHT onto Int'l Dr. South, turn RIGHT onto Vineland.

We've stayed at the CH three times and it is a great resort. There are a number of restaurants within a couple of minutes including a Denny's, Outback, KFC, Wendy's, and a quiznos. There are others as well. The Publix is only a couple of minutes away as well. They have a ton of fun activities to take advantage of if you like. You'll love the resort. They just refurbished the main pool area.
