Cypress Gardens and planning a second trip.

Has anybody been there? I searched previous threads and they are pretty old and it's closed and re-opened since then. It looks like a nice gentle day for us and our two girls, although I does seem very big.

DH is still umming and arring about another trip this year but it seems he's coming around to the idea more every day - the only bombshell he dropped last night was "I'm not doing anything I did back in May" :scared1: :scared1:
I didn't probe further as I didn't want a "disagreement" at such a late hour. Yikes, I think this means no MK, EPCOT or MGM - He did say he wanted to do the Disney water parks though, doesn't seem fair does it when I think we only saw half of about each park. I agree however that I wouldn't do AK, Seaworld or US and that he can go off and do IOA on his own (I'm not interested in going and as there isn't much for the girls there it will keep the costs down to do other things). I would like to go to Clearwater for a day and we would both like to do Busch Gardens and Kennedy (which weve never done).

So his work colleague told him about Cypress Gardens and their website isn't great so I thought I'd ask my fellow DISer's.

If you do frequent trips do you and your other half disagree about what to do - do you ever go non-disney? :confused3

In all the 12 years we have been going to Disney we have not been to Cypress Gardens but are trying it for the first time. I can let you know more after our return in Sept.
We have never gone to WDW and not done Disney, don't think it would be the same. We do however try to find a couple of new things on each trip to do.
We don't really disagree either about where to go and what to do, just go with the flow.We have usually got a rough itinerary in mind.

Hi,

We don't tend to disagree too much , to be honest most of our theme park time is aimed at suiting Joshua and not us.
Although we plan to a degree for park tickets, accomodation etc we just have a rough idea on our first few days and then just see how we feel each day from then onwards, if we planned each day it would be pointless as we would just change regularly. In addition sometimes Josh doesn't want to go out so there always has to be flexibility in our plans.

As I have said loads of times, our holiday's have never been just about Disney and we just like Florida in general. Also we don't visit any parks excessively so never really get tired of visiting any, with the possible exception of the Universal parks where we have Annual Passes for so guess there is a need to make the most of them.

I would recommened Clearwater and St.Pete's area for a day trip - gives a nice break from Orlando and the beaches are fantastic.

Sorry never been to Cypress Gardens.

Went to Cyprus Gardens in December 2005 and the grounds were impeccable then -- very clean and almost no one there. The scenery is gorgeous and the shows are OK. If you want a quiet day this is the place to go.

OOOPPPS: Yes DW and I go different places, but mostly parks. Sometimes visit friends nearby. Almost always hit either Universal and/or Seaworld

Cypress Gardens is a more relaxing day out than the other parks and seems to have a BOGOF day deal on most of the time.

Be a little wary of Busch Gardens if IOA isn't your or the girl's cup of tea as the main rides are fast and furious but there are a few gentler things to do as well.
It's normally a bit quieter than IOA or the Disney parks though.

Clearwater is an OK day out but potentially a very long day as the traffic round Tampa can be quite bad.
We did it a couple of years ago with an overnight stay in St Pete's after a Busch Gardens visit and drove round the coast in the morning. We got a Holiday inn deal via a voucher book for not very much for a room for 4.

Clearwater was OK in my opinion, not as bowled over as I thought but still nice to have been and seen it with my own eyes. Nice to be in St Pete's and the drive was pretty nice but we didn't go back there this year.

:thumbsup2 for cypress gardens, when we whent like we had apark yo ourselfs, they do BOGOF and we whent back as we didnt realize that they had a smal waterpark, which was included with admission.
Nice grounds not too big and a refreshing change from the hurly burly of disney
