CVS Weekly 3/8-3/14

Seems like my CVS is cleaned out of everything by 9am Sunday. I grow weary of this and am so very frustrated. I used to do really well, but the store just does not have any stock of anything--they have been out of soda 12 packs as well the last three sales on that. I am not sure what I am going to do. Maybe I'll see if there is a different location that has better stock!

Any idea if contacting corporate about it would make any difference? We have a new Walgreens being built right next door and I'm thinking they better get with it or be prepared to lose customers.

At least try to get rain checks for the deals so you can get them when the stock comes in! I know how frustrating it is when there is no stock!

Just because I was curious, I went to Walmart at lunch today and figured out what it would have cost if I had purchased all my items there (the transactions I did for the article). I was actually surprised that quite a few items were cheaper at CVS before coupons! I didn't include the Boost in my calculation since that was a clearance buy and could be hit or miss.

Wal Mart
$43.88 product cost
$17.40 coupons
$26.48 net cost

CVS
$48.69 product cost
$18.40 coupons (difference is $1 CRT)
$21.00 ECB earned
$9.29 net cost

Difference of $17.19 between the stores for the exact same products.

Wow. Good to know. Are you going to include that in the article?

Yes, I am a nerd and typed it out in a spreadsheet. I'll definitely give it to the reporter if she wants to use it. It didn't take me long to do, so I might stop at Target and Giant (our big grocery store here) and do the same thing. I get bored at lunch

I think that would be really interesting to add to the article.

Does your Giant double coupons? I saw a sign in ours that said they double up to 99cents. Wonder how that would affect the bottom line. I'm not sure how their doubling policy works - if it is up to .99 gets credit for .99 or if they double the face value so that anything up to .99 gets doubled.

Post the results if you do the math at the other stores. I'm curious to see which one is the best deal.

Nerd? Are you kidding:scared1: I think you are wonderful:teacher: I wish I had just a little of you in me:rolleyes1

I go to a new Cardiologist in Atlanta on Wed, so I've been really nervous and had a lot of stuff on my mind, maybe CVSing will take my mind off it

Yeah that is enough to stress anyone out. I need to get my DH back in to his Cardiologist and he fights me kicking and screaming like a cat to the vet!

I've just recently convinced my sister of this. She used to just say everything is cheaper at Walmart so that is where to go. But I've called her over to the CVS side!!

So, I did end up doing these transactions yesterday. The only thing I changed is I added the Boost Smoothie since I found it on clearnace and had a coupon to make it free. The cashier and the store manager copied down my transactions because they wanted to duplicate them, so I guess that is a good sign.
Sounds like it was a hit! :thumbsup2

Ask when the truck comes in, mine comes on Mondays. You can request rainchecks also. As for contacting corporate I did this last week because I was told they never received the Act nor the Charmin 6pk. Come to find out they did have the Act in the backroom and they had been informed to substitute the CHarmin 9pk if the store didn't have the 6pk. I received an email from corporate, a voicemail at home from the asst manager and a call at work from the manager (he was upset I went to corporate instead of him even though I had tried calling him first). I received a $4 courtesy ECB as my $4/20 expired on Sunday and they told me to come back Monday if I wanted to do the deals. :confused3

The zone perfect bars are free this week if you have a coupon. They are on sale for $1 and the coupon is for $1 off from one of the newspapers. Sorry, I clip all mine so I don't know if it was the smart source or the redplum or which week.

Our area also had the cereal buy $10 get $5 ecb's.

My Zone coupons were only for 55 cents....still a good price.

Today on my card I did
7 Loreal Pro Vive $2.99 each
4 Herbal Essences (they don't have to be hydralicious) $2.88 each
2 Snickers (sometimes you need to feed the kid ya drag around ;) ) 2/$1
1 Lendt Truffle $2.50
2 Zone Bars $1 each
1 Secret Flawless $3.99
1 Crest 4.2 oz Pro Health $2.99
2 Kleenex BOGO $2.39
1 Blistex DCT (No sale, no coupon just dry lips) $2.29

$49.61

Minus $17.85 in coupons (Truffle, Herbal Essence, LOreal, Crest, Secret)
Minus $15.96 ECB
Minus $5/$25

OOP $12.67 (includes $1.87 in tax)

Received $12 ECB for purchases, $4 ECB Courtesy mentioned above, $5/$25
CRTs $2 on Aquafresh, $2 Always, $2 Neutrogena Cosmetics
$25 for New Prescription.

I never did receive any CVS nut CRTs

I repeated the Crest, Secret, and all the shampoo on DHs card on my way home.

Technically not free but I was pretty happy to get stocked up on good shampoo as I have long curly hair. :thumbsup2

Our Giants around here only double coupons with a face value up to .50 (meaning you could get $1 off for each .50 Q). Oh, how I wish they doubled larger Q's!

So were mine...

Darn - I didn't buy because I wanted Drama Clean for DD and the signs and ad said hydralicious!.

Me either.

I was bad and double dipped with rain-checked free L'oreal free products. (To make up for the $16 in ECB that expired while I was ill.)

When does the Lumene deal end? Was it last week only or is it a monthly?

I just got back from WDW tonight and was so disappointed because someone STOLE my sunday paper!! I am so bummed about the coupons. Thankfully we bought one in disney so at least I have one set. I was counting on the garnier coupons tho.

Someone stole your paper? That's awful!

Oh hey! :wave2: That's funny that we are both on here! Yeah, all the other papers were out in the yard except for sunday. I am bummed :sad2:

yeah Hey! I hope it wasn't one of those awful CVS'er's who steal coupons!!! LOL! :rotfl2: Well at least you know it wasn't me. I'm too far away! But now that I think of it....not a bad idea!! Just kidding!

Very interesting the comparison with Walmart especially since the main complaint of people who don't do ECBs is that CVS is too expensive.

MaggieW - I tried the Walgreens diaper deal - I think it was you who mentioned it last week. Walgreens worked well for me last week with the Dove, and I did end up with a bunch of free Garnier this week, but I had a hard time figuring out what I could use the RR for in order to get more back. I think that I did well with the diapers, actually, I know I did because I used the Olay $15 gift card to pay for it:thumbsup2

So, I have 7 packs of diapers, but I recall that there is a Huggies deal at CVS coming up. Does anyone have any idea when? I skipped CVS last week and I MISS IT (one day of clearance hunting notwithstanding:)!!

Doesn't that stink?!? Because I know that there are some Giant stores in Chester and Montgomery counties that do double up to .99 coupons.

Which Garnier coupons were you looking for? I bought extra papers this week. Let me know which ones you needed.

ETA: Nevermind. I just checked the inserts and I didn't get any Garnier coupons this week. Sorry.

Forgot to add this earlier. Both CVS stores let me use 7 identical coupons for the LOreal deal. :thumbsup2

That's pretty eye-opening! I think the paper better hire you as budget columnist. Can't wait to see it when its done :)
