For those who have interest in the evil Walgreens manager we have here, this is what I witnessed today (tried to film with my cell phone, but I wasn't ready and it was too akward):
Retired woman checks out with many Easter items. She writes a check (which takes an act of Congress to approve), the check is inserted into the receipt printing machine and is put in the drawer, BUT then something locks up on the receipt printer so cashier has to call the manager.
Manager comes up, has to have the situation explained 4 times by cashier (I am next in line, he hates me - when he was on his way up, I think he thought I was the reason he was paged).
He starts fooling around with the machine, nothing works.
Lady: I don't really need my receipt (starts to take her items)
Mgr: (puts his hands over the bags) You CANNOT leave this store
Lady: I don't need my receipt
Mgr: I need to make sure you were charged for these items
Lady: I was, I already paid
Mgr: You do not know that
Lady: Yes I do, I already paid
Mgr: How do I know you paid?
Lady: (staring in disbelief)
Mgr: The system doesn't know you paid, I don't know you paid
Lady: I paid and I don't need the receipt
Mgr: You cannot leave with this merchandise until it's proven that it is paid for
Lady: The check I paid with is in your drawer
Mgr: And you're ASSUMING I would know this?
