CVS employee cut up my card, what to do with the EBC?

I"m just amazed they actually had the nerve to cut up the others....how ridiculous...
I see the rules, but.....whatever... just silly to me they went to that extreme

Not picking on you but I just had a thought. Hypothetically, say there is a gay couple living together in the same household. Say SusieQ has "the household" card in her name, what is JaneDoe supposed to do? :confused3 If it's only 1 per household, her name is obviously not SusieQ what is she supposed to do? Shop at Walgreens? :confused3

I didn't take that as picking on me, no worries. Quite honestly, I paid no attention, assumed they were mine, stuck them in my wallet and was amazed I actually remembered to use them before they expired :lmao: Only I didn't get to use them because they were Mom's. FWIW, we are two separate households, we just shop together a lot since Mom is a widow and she likes the company.

I don't understand where or why they choose to get nitpicky- it seems kind of random and like it mostly depends on what employee you get at what store on what day, kwim?

As for your scenario, I would think it would be even worse for roommates who presumably split the bills but don't otherwise combine money. I can't imagine having been forced to share one account with my five college program roommates, for example. :confused3

Well obviously to them it looks fishy. To be honest, it does to me as well. I don't think its fair to blame CVS. It IS odd to have 3. When I go on vacation, I ask people to watch my pets & plants not my CVS card.

If you are totally on the up & up, then let it go, and just keep using the one that is yours.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So like um does this mean you can only get 6 free tubes of hemroid cream instead of 18 now?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I've had CVS cards toss in my bag at the end of the purchase. Even when the purchase doesn't need the card to get a discount. I hardly shop there, and never take part in their deals as I find my grocery store does a good job, and I have no prescriptions. My brother does but his are free.

I prefer using walgreens. And I would be highly offended as well. I mean, I would be offended if some one started going through all my "cards" as nearly all stores use them. It's none of thier bussiness who's is who's. I understand the "this card is property of store", but the keys it's attached to is not and therefor if they didn't want you to have the other cards, they should've asked you first for each particular card.

Raise yell because I know I would in a heartbeat.

I agree.
I have more than one on my keyfob- one is my mom's and she's quadraplegic and yes my store KNOWS that when I did the CVS deals heavily awhile back (haven't really felt like messing with it lately LOL) that I was doing it for her too. They'd even ask me which card I wanted to use on each transaction. (she does not live in my household)

The rule is one per adult in the household- there is NO RULE saying you can't have extra cards on your keychain! There is no rule saying you can't have your mother/sister/friend/whatever's card on your keychain!
There is no law against that and to take your personal belongings and cut up things off your keyfob is ridiculous. I'd have to call corporate and report the store for that. At the VERY least they should have just told you that you can't have more than one and let you know that. And ask that you remove the ones you don't want to keep so they can discard them or something- not just sneakily take your keys and cut up cards on it. geesh

I had always thought the policy was one extracare account per household BUT I have only been doing the CVS ECB's since Spring of 2008.

So I went on their website to see if they had the exact policy written (i.e. every adult in the household can have their own extracare account OR one extracare account per household) and couldn't find any information regarding that specific policy. I notice the customer service number down at the bottom and called it and posed that question to the rep "Can the adults living under the same household have their own extracare account?". She informed me the policy is one extracare account per household.

I then asked if there was somewhere on the website where this exact policy is written because I could not find it - she looked for it, couldn't find it right away and asked if she could put me on hold. She came back and stated that the policy is on the physical applications for extracare card/account AND on the website when you sign up for a card.

I went ahead and started to sign up for a card (NOTE - I did not get another one) and went so far as the fill out your information section and I cancelled out. BUT I didn't see anywhere on that portion the policy so IF it is on the website its further down the chain then where I got.

As a disclaimer - I am in now way shape or form stating that the policy IS what the rep gave me as I do not have written confirmation.

Anjelica, I did the same thing just a few months ago. Only I went as far as to request a new card. There was no statement anywhere on the website or on the paperwork that came with my new card about a limit on the number of cards per household. I still have the paperwork somewhere.

Personally, until I see something in writing about a limit on their website or the paperwork that comes with the new card or somewhere in the store, I'll continue to use my 2 household cards without guilt.

To the op, glad things worked out for you! Hopefully that store will learn to treat their customers in a better manner.

Regardless of the "rules", they had no business taking your keys from you and cutting up the cards like that. I would have had a problem with that too.

Call a lawyer for WHAT? Pain and suffering? Post-coupon abuse syndrome?

I'm not advocating calling a lawyer, but a lawyer could make a case for anything... It could be pain and suffering for embarrassment. Who knows who else may have been around to see all this. If it happened in the town I grew up in, pretty much everyone would be talking about it. Also, vandalism of personal property, maybe even assault by grabbing them out of your hands and then vandalizing your stuff.

I wouldn't call a lawyer, but I definitely would write a letter to corporate documenting what happened and that I felt it was rude and inappropriate.

I think CVS should just discontinue these cards. What advantage is it to them for people to come in and get all the free stuff and pay $0 at the register so they can go sell free glucose monitiors and shampoo as yard sales. I never shop any of the sale items at CVS because people will grab all 12 bottles of any advertised product and leave nothing for anyone else. Just because it's allowed doesn't mean it's right. I think it's greedy and selfish.

I almost totally disagree with what you are saying. As a loyal CVS customer and cardholder, I must be blind because I have never seen any customers march to the shelves and grab 12 bottles of anything. Yes, they probably exist, but out of all the CVS cardholders, they probably number 1%. I personally believe it is wrong to buy items and then resell them at yard sales or flea markets but I've read that people do that. It would bother my conscience greatly if I did that. If I have extras of something that I know my family won't use, I donate some to food shelves (they take way more than food contributions which I just learned a few months ago when I asked if I could donate toothpaste, shampoo, etc.), to homeless or women's shelters, or send them in care packages to soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan. Don't tell me I'm the only CVS customer who does this because I know from personal experience that there are many others out there who do the same thing. Don't color the vast minority of CVS abusers with the same brush you color the rest of us.

Ok so for us who have had our cards since the whole ECB thing started, can have 1 card for each adult in the household (its in the application we signed). Now new cards are only 1 per household.

ummm...my close family member is a manager of a CVS and the majority of people DO abuse these specials. When CVS puts wording in place in the ads to limit quantities, they just do separate purchases. This family member CRINGES when he sees the CVS ads. Just look at THIS budget board...theres a million threads on how to cheat CVS! While I am 100% certain you are honest, many, many people are not and use the phrase "the customer is always right" to justify their cheating & greed...look at the posts that are telling the OP to call corporate or hire a lawyer. For what? Because some cashier at CVS had the balls to cut up their card? Like that is assualt or abuse! Please. Work 1/2 hour in retail and you will begin to question if ANYONE in America is honest...so many people cheat or try to work their way around rules, it is laughable. But I guess my honesty and rule-following is why I am not financially successful, but at least I know I am not a loser who cheats the system.

They can pull your card up with your phone number, just go to a different CVS. Or have your mom and dh go to a different CVS. Shouldn't be a huge issue. I would have been REALLY ticked if someone took my keys and cut something off of them. They should have just asked for them, then you could have explained that they were not yours.

WOW..I feel bad for you. I worked in retail for 9 years and only had a couple of bad experiences. CVS ads tell you there is a great sale and a limit. Why wouldnt I use my card to get a sale?

There are many legal budget boards out there that tell you what coupons to use with a cvs sale to make it even better and I for one am going to save money when I can cause, like you I am not financially successful.

That CVS had no right to take her keys from her and cut up her cards. I talked to a few CVS employess that I know and they were all appalled! Thats not having balls, thats being rude and in no way following any type of rules!!!!
