So without getting into the number specifics this is a small example of the savings I have had by rolling my ECB's. My start up cost for each card was in the vicinity of $40 and then usually my transactions are under $2 from there on out. A few rules I try to follow:
* I will break a transaction up to get my OOP as little as possible
* I usually try to hit the $20 mark just so I can use a 4/20 to save a little more!
* I try to not spend more ECB's than I am earning in a single transction. I will bypass this rule IF I have a deal that week (or one is coming up) that I am making a profit to balance the negative.
* I will use ECB's on clearance items combined with coupons even when not earning ECB's if I have a surplus.
So in the last couple days, for $5.94 I have gotten:
4 Corn Pops $15.96
2 Frosted Flakes $9.38
2 Childrens Motrin $11.00
4 Wrigleys Gum $4.00
1 Glucose monitor $9.99
1 Folgers Coffee $6.99
5 St Ives Lotion $14.95
4 Sally Hanson Polish $9.96
2 Sudacare Plugs $2.90
1 RGX Deodorant $4.99
3 Childrens Dimetapp $4.96
4 Blistex Gentle Sense $2.10
1 Sudacare Shower $1.25
1 J&J Lavender Powder $2.99
3 J&J Vanilla Powder $6.45
1 Sudacare Plug Ins $2.90
2 Chloraseptic Drops $2.10
1 Coke 20oz $1.49
1 Tylenol Cold Multi $1.62
Prices reflect shelf price at time of purchase. Alot of the meds were on clearance for 50-75% off so retail value even if bought at *cheaper* stores like
Walmart would still have cost more! $115.98 shelf price (NOT retail price!) and I spent under $6 OOP! Multiple that times weeks because that was only 3 days! Only items we personally won't use are the monitor (donating) and the powder (gift), the rest we use on a day to day basis and I used to pay retail for!
