CVS ECB Deals - Sales for Week 4/20/08-4/26/08

Well I was just in the right place at the right time today! My boyfriend mentioned that he needed some bodywash and shampoo, so I volunteered to take him to my regular CVS to buy what he needed. As we were looking for the best deals, I heard a manager talking to a customer down the aisle, telling her about the Softsoap deal. She said that she had already reached the limit, so she couldn't buy anymore. Then he told her that he had a bunch of boxes of 18 oz. Softsoap in the back! :woohoo: :yay: I've been searching all week and it turns out they were right in my own store! I was so excited, I practically ran up to the manager to ask him to bring me some. Of course, I had to come up with a plan on the spot, but I ended up doing really well! I got 4 bottles, plus shampoo, body wash and shaving cream for my boyfriend, spent $1.45 OOP and $22.98 ECBs, and got back $21.96 ECBs for the Softsoap. :cool1: This worked out perfectly since my coupons were expiring tomorrow! It also helped that I managed to avoid the grumpy cashier who always seems to find a problem with my deals.

This manager was so friendly, he told me to be sure to come back in May for some more good deals. I asked him if they would start earlier, say tomorrow? :rolleyes1 He was surprised I knew so much about it, but said that they should be activated by tomorrow! Guess where I'll be tomorrow afternoon! :hyper:

I just came back from using the last of my coupons for the Zone bars and the Herbal Essence. Tonight I will get my plan together for tomorrow morning. :thumbsup2

Coming out of lurking mode....This is my very first post on the boards!

First, thanks to all of you for your many tips that you've posted. I've learned a lot and gotten some really great deals!

Speaking of friendly CVS's....the other day I went into my local CVS and there was no body wash left on the shelf. I found one of the managers who I see there regularly and she told me to follow her to the back of the store. We got to the storage room door and she told me to follow her inside! She looked thru several containers before she found the body wash and asked me how many I wanted. My husband couldn't believe that she did that.

Hello to my fellow TN CVSer, TNGramma. I'm in Spring Hill, TN.

April S. :goodvibes

Hi April:wave: I live in the Tri Cities area (very NE). Good to have you here. Come out of lurdkom and join us. If I say so myself we are a pretty nice bunch of people.

I may ask one of my good managers today if they have any in back.

BTW there are a couple more Tennesseans on this board too.

What kind of last minute deals can I do to use a $27.45 ECB and actually increase it's value?

I've already done the large soft soap and no more small soft soap to be found. I've given up on the EOB deals as I've tried several combinations and it's just not working out for me. Did the CVS brand tylenol already too.

If I do 5 alaverts, that'll come to $14.95 so I need another $13 or so of free/money maker stuff.

Anybody got any ideas

I am so excited. I just got a survery from CVS advisory board and earned $10 ECB to be given after May 16.

I signed up for this thing about a year ago and this is the first I have heard from them. :cool1:
I signed up for this a while back too and haven't heard from them. I hope I get one!

Another lurker coming out of the woodwork here...I have been an avid budget board reader for years and I cannot for the life of me figure out why I didn't read these threads earlier! So, after much preparation, I finally sat down yesterday and planned my 1st CVS trip. I printed and organized my coupons, I spent a couple hours reading hotcouponworlds forums and then another hour or so reading this column so I think I am ready! I cannot thank you enough for all the tips, suggestions and links! You guys are fabulous! So, now I am off to CVS for my very 1st savings extravaganza! I will let you know how I do. Thanks again for everything! Patty

Is your ECB one big $27.45 ECB or is it several in smaller denominations?

Maggie

I just worked out a scenario for May where I can pay 1.18 oop and get back 16.66 ECB! WOO HOO!:cool1:

Anyone know when the May deals start since May 1 is in the middle of the week? Do they start Sunday or actually on May 1??

No, no Fab coupon unfortunately. Although after I went CVS-ing I stopped at the library and my library has a coupon swap! Its a huge plastic box (bigger than a shoebox) and people put in their unwanted coupons. I had to pick up my daughter from school but WHOA NELLIE! There were coupons! LOL!:lmao: I found a few for toothpaste that I'm sure I can use at CVS one day!:rolleyes1

That's cool. Wish ours did something like that! They put out old magazines but never the good ones

Welcome :goodvibes I can't believe it took me so long to join in the CVSing fun either! Now I am addicted.

It's one big one for $27.45....that's what makes it tough...guess I'll just wait for the May deals and spend it then, it's not expiring or anything but I wanted to get the alavert and not spend anything out of pocket and I believe the alavert expires today and I don't think there's anything else I can do to not just "waste" the ECB. Know what I mean? So I guess I'm skipping the alavert. There are some allergy med deals next month anyway so it'll all work out.

Thanks for the welcome Kelley! So you live near Nashville too?

We were at Disney World this past January and my daughter had just gotten kissed by Snow White. She had to sleep with the kiss mark on her cheek that night. She wouldn't let us wipe it off.

I used to live in Nashville - my oldest DD was born at Donelson Hospital back in 1994 - but I have worked in the music industry forever and have commuted to Nashville (Brentwood) from my home out of state for the past several years. DH is AD Army so we move all over. Right now we are in MD about 30 minutes North of Baltimore but before that I was in Charleston, SC (my hometown).

One of my artists moved 2 years ago from Franklin to Spring Hill and absolutely loves it out there.

Cute story about Snow White. Sadly, my DDs have finally outgrown the princess phase. SIGH I miss that age!

I was really dissapointed with the lists of CVSs that have scanners that print coupons - my CVS, the only CVS in town, wasn't on the list. :(

Last night I went to see if they had anymore of the body wash and to do the Alavert deal. No body wash at all. :( And I should have planned the Alavert for earlier in the week so I could have done it more times, I'm still learning all the tricks to this. But at least I got the deal once. :)

Anyhow, as I'm wandering around I decided to look at the price scanner. I've used it before to check prices but never thought to scan my card. It worked!! It printed out a coupon for $3 off $15!

Then I went back in today, was killing some time between Boy Scouts and baseball, and I let DS8 scan my card ... it printed out 2 coupons! A $3 off $10 of CVS products and a $1 off some cookies!

Later I stopped at a CVS in the next town over and while I couldn't find a scanner there I did find 3 more of the big body washes! And this cashier was so much nicer than any of the cashiers in my town's CVS. Really really nice. I think she was almost as happy as I was to have a low OOP (51 cents) and get back $16.47 in ECBs.

Ok, I searched this thread, but can't figure out the large soft soap everyone is talking about. I can't find it anywhere in my ads either. Any help?

The little one (12 oz.) is advertised and is $4.99 (purchase price) and get back a $4.99 ECB. You can do the deal 5 times.

The big one (18 oz) is not advertised (that I'm aware of) and is $5.49 get back a $5.49 ECB. I think you can do the deal 5 times. It's Softsoap SPA Body Wash. One bottle is a purple sort of color and the other is green, I think. I'd have to go look in my bathroom closet for sure.

I was able to get 5 of the small ones and 4 of the big ones. I'm set for awhile and they're all mine! DH won't use them because they're too girlie smelling for him. More for me!!

If you think that's disappointing - I have NINE, yes NINE, CVS stores within a 3 mile radius of my house and guess how many have the scanner? The big fat 0!!

If it is any consolation, one of our stores has a scanner and 99% of the time it won't print because it is "temporarily unavailable" or out of paper. :headache:
