CVS ECB Deals - Sales for Week 3/16/08-3/22/08

That's interesting, Diz. I just did the Dove $5 ECBs with $15 purchase yesterday. I got 4 sets of shampoo/conditioners @$4.99 each (they're BOGOs) and I used 4 $3-off coupons and the $3 off $15 CVS purchase coupon. My OOP cost was $5.26 with taxes and I got the $5 ECBs on my RT. I wonder if it is a regional thing?

Hi everyone, I am new to CVS'ing. I have been reading all the forums and I'm pretty sure I have got it down. I went to my cvs this morning and had all my coupons and a list of what I wanted to get and how much I would get in rewards. When I got to the register I told her to be patient as I wanted to be sure to do my order correctly. I was absolutely stunned to hear her tell me that on my Dove purchase, which was when you spend $15.00 you get $5.00 back in rewards that they were now deducting my coupons from my $15.00 total! I disagreed and told her the manufacturer refunds cvs the amount of the coupon and I shouldn't be penalized for cutting coupons and saving money. She said it is now their new rule because there are too many people abusing the system. I see that on the bottom of my coupon it clearly deducts my coupons, which were 4/$3.00 coupons so it took me longer to get to my $15.00 and get my $5.00 in rewards. I really can't believe this new rule and wonder how much this is going to change things for people who spend a lot of time making the most out of their money there?

I'm a newbie also. But I wonder if this is JUST the Dove deal or your particular STORE policy?

I just came back from CVS this morning. Bought the Maybelline lipcolor for $8.99 with a $2 coupon and the 2for$6 M&M's with a $1 coupon and both purchases generated the ECBs for me. :confused3

Maybe someone who actually did the Dove deal already will chime in. That way you know if it is just your STORE. :rolleyes1

Hmm..just thinking here and I could be wrong ( I usually am )
OP how many Dove items did you buy? just wondering because they are BOGO, the free items do not count towards the total. Say you bought 4 dove shampoo/conditioner you are only paying for 2 (CVS does not factor in the free item towards the wyb $, but you can still use Mfq for all 4 items. Does this make sense?? At the bottom of your receipt how much does it say you have spent towards this deal?

That is true the free item is not counted toward the total

So, here's today's two trips. I'll make my real run later in the week, I wanted to do one trip just to get the free and almost free stuff (russell stover, jelly beans, Hersheys pot of gold) but it didn't work out too well.

First store, out of russell stover and jelly beans.

Bought 2 pot of gold (2 x $4.99)
6 ice breakers ice cubes gum ( 6 x $1.19)~gotta keep DD15 in gum

Used 3 BOGO gum coupons
Used $12 ECB
Paid $2.18 OOP
Got back $9.98 in ECBs

2nd store:
Also out of Russell Stover
bought 2 jelly beans (2 x .99)

Paid $2.12 OOp
Got $1.98 in ECBS

So I now have 4 cents less in ECBs than I started with, spent $4.30 in cash and have 2 Pot of Gold, 6 packs of gum and 2 bags of jelly beans to show for my trouble. All in all a pretty good deal.

Poly- I know you are further south, but the Bristol 24 hour store has the totes too. They ring up $1.49. I think that is my new favorite store- they always have what I'm looking for.

OH MY GOSH!! I don't work tomorrow -- hmmm, do I go up there or not. Is it directly on the Berlin Turnpike? Gosh this really is becoming a sickness (but it's so much fun).

Thank you for this!

I just checked my receipt, and it seems I did not get the ECB for the Dove - I did the B1G1 and I guess it didn't count. Unfortunately, I fell in love with the cream oil body lotion (being the most expensive Dove product I bought at 6.99, lol) so I will just go buy another w/a coupon to generate the $5 ECBs.

And thank you to the poster who posted the Glade spray deal. I took advantage of that one today.

Regarding my trip to my local CVS (in Cincinnati) and my coupons, I have reviewed my receipt and it appears to me that they DID deduct my coupons in my favor. The cashier was very clear that they are going to start deducting coupons for items BEFORE you reach the amount you have to get to to get your ECB. I did the BOGO Dove Shampoo, then I had 3/$3 coupons. This got me to $15.27. I therefore received my $5.00 ECB for reaching $15.00, even on the BOGO Dove Shampoo. Then she deducted my coupons. I don't know why she told me about the changes regarding the coupons, but it really bothered me and I am considering getting a better explaination from a manager regarding this. As I told my husband, why does CVS care, the manufacturer reimburses them for my coupon and if I can't utilize it at their store then I'll wait until super double coupons at my grocery store and shop there! I will advise when I get a better answer.

I think I've got it -- on Farmington Ave, Rt. 6 (not the other one in Bristol on N.Main)! What to do, what to do?

Just a note to MD shoppers (should be all states). If the store is out of any of the free items they will issue a rain check to get them free when they are in stock. Free is better than ECB's any time.
Queen of Free

Also while shopping at CVS today a lady came up and asked if I was one the HCW couponers. She saw my coupon notebook. We had a nice chat and I also told her about the nice dis board CVSers too. It is a small world.

I can't believe this, but on my trip this morning, the cashier told me no rain checks if the item is free! What in the world is going on at my CVS? Hopefully it was just her and not the store!

Help! I'm new at the CVS thing...but I bought the Claritin today, expecting to get $5Eb back, as advertised in the ad, and in the store. When I checked out, I didn't get it...what's up with that? Any recourse??? I want my $5.00!!!
I questioned the clerk, and she was totally clueless. She didn't even know what EB stood for on the receipt. Thought my fellow disers who are experienced w/the CVS deals might know something.

I remember last quarter I was able to print online the next day. Today I just checked and no ECBs. Now I know if I had been CVSing the right way I shouldn't have very many LOL. But According to my Winter Spending I spent about $700. so where are my 14 or so ECBs?? :P I want them I need them!!

Here is the other thing.. They say I spent $700, but there is no way on this great earth that I actually spent that much. I looked back through my bank account on-line since I only pay with my debit card and the total is only around $300. Still alot some might say :rotfl:, I know the trick is not get any Quarter ECBs but I still saved over $900. So my question is this how did they come up with a 700 figure I thought coupons didnt' count towards spending amounts?? That is my only guess?

Anyone get their Quarter ECBs??

I just got back from CVS and I got the ECB for the Dove and a BOGO? so all together it was free +.01. Does that make sense? Today was my 1st real CVS'ing and I spent 107.28 and received 22 in ECB; not bad!!!

I think what she meant is that to use a $4/$20 coupon (or any $/$$ coupon), your total has to be that amount before coupons.

You see, right now, most people will give the $4/$20 coupon FIRST when their total is above $20. Then hand over the manufacturer's coupons, which will decrease the total. Then any CVs coupons. Then ECB.

I don't think she was talking about subtracting off the manufacturer coupon amount from the total to get the ECB. (for example, the Dove deal). That is done by the register and the ECB are generated automatically. The store itself cannot decide to override that.

Doing the Dove deal yesterday, I bought some Dove deodorant on clearance that was right on the shelves next to all the other Dove deodorant but it didn't count towards the $15 limit. Just a heads up cause I realized after I left that I still need $1.53 to go. And a quick question - do some people have a Coppertone deal in their circular? I have Bullfrog (with no ecb's only $1 off) and I was wondering if sometimes there were different regional deals.

Well I did learn something new yesterday that screwed up my big transaction. I had a pretty good sized purchase and bought Mason some formula and used the 25% off coupon. On that transaction I had $5 off formula coupons (1 for each can) and a $5 off formula check (from the manufacturer) for each can. I handed the cashier my $5/$15 and the rest of the coupons for that order including the formula checks and had my ECBs in my hand to hand over last. Once the cashier processed the formula checks then the register would not accept my ECBs at all. The manager tried to override and force them thru but they wouldn't take because the check counted as a "partial payment". I ended up having to pay OOP instead of being able to use ECBs as payment.

No big deal since of course I can use the ECBs later but that totally threw off my gameplan!

We have a Coppertone deal. I forget how much you have to buy but you get back $7 in ECBs. I picked up 2 of the Continuous spray cans that were $9.99 each and used a manufacturer's coupon for $1 off and I got $7 ECBs. :thumbsup2 I needed sunscreen for our May trip anyway so this worked out great.
