Cuttlebug or not to Cuttlebug?

I've been looking at investing in a die cut machine that doesn't cost a fortune and at Joanne's, they have the cuttlebug on sale right now for $60. I was wondering if you have it, do you like it, is it worth the investment, etc. It would eventually pay for itself instead of me buying sticker letters constantly.

I have one and I love it. it will cut most dies (quickutz, sizzix, etc) it has those super cute embossing folders.. You can use a coupon on it (or at least you could) at m's and j's when it's not on sale which brings it down to 45-50$? it's easy to use... I really like mine. maggie

ps: it will cut the cuttlekids dies but the cuttlekids machine will only cut those and nothing else.

pps: there is a very good thread over on 2peas about what cuts what and what plates you need to use in which order, etc.

I have a cuttlebug and I really like it. I also have a craftrobo and a cricut expression- so obviously I like gadgets. I use my cuttlebug mainly for embossing. The cuttlebug does cut a number of dies- both cuttlebug and not. I depends on whether you would take the time to cut out the letters you need and if you like the fonts you can use. There are a variety of machines out there and i do encourage you to buy one in which you can easily use most all dies from various companies.

I love my cuttlebug, but I have to admit that I mostly use my cricut. Cuttlebug is for embosing and for "direct cutting", like when I want to make a pic into puzzle piences I can see where each line will be before it cuts, so no face get chopped in half and such. With cricut you cant do that. I don't think I would ever have the patience to use "old school" die cut machines for letters. You might want to save up for the cricut if letters are your primary concern.

I love my cuttlebug. I use it mostly for embossing and it is great for card making. I also like the die cut and emboss combos you can get. There is actually a great deal on line right now. Check it out!

Thanks for all the advice. I have decided to hold off and save for the cricut since it looks like it would be a lot easier to make letters, which would be my main priority. Also, they have a disney cartridge. I also know to go to creative express when I'm ready, those prices are really cheap compared to everybody else. Thanks!

I have the Cricut, but I also have the Cuttlebug. I use it for embossing. There are some cute Disney embossing folders, which I love. There's one in the princess set that I love using for journaling. I don't really use the Cuttlebug *that* often, but when I do, it makes the purchase totally worth it!

I agree with you though about saving up for the Cricut instead. Maybe someday, after you have the Cricut, you'll get enabled to get the Cuttlebug too. That's what happened to me, haha.

I have a Cuttlebug (and a Cricut), and I love them both. I have mainly used the Cuttlebug to cut out letters. It works really well, and saves a lot of time. I was hand cutting all of my letters. I think it was well worth the money!

Haha, yep!! I can't wait! I feel so much more unprepared than I did last year, I don't know why. I think all my mom and I were concentrating on was what to dress up as for the Halloween party (last year we didn't wear costumes.) I'll be there in 36 hours!! I'm probably going to go through withdrawl from not being on the board, though.
