When we got home from Disneyland, my daughter was talking to me one night before bed and this was the conversation:

DD: "Mom, my dreams didn't come true at Disneyland..."

Me: "Why? What do you mean?"

DD: "Well, at the end of the fireworks, when I wished upon a star, I closed my eyes tight and made my wish inside my head...and it didn't come true".

Me: "What was your wish?"

DD: "To fly...like Tinkerbell".

Me: "Oh, sorry sweetie, humans can't fly...".

DD: "Yes, but Lizzie flied [in the Tink movie], so I thought I could fly, too when I was at Disneyland"

Me: "Yes, but you did fly on the planes and on the rides, right?"

DD: "Yes, but I didn't fly BY MYSELF!"

Me: "Oh, well, Lizzie flied because Tinkerbell helped her fly..."

...and the conversation went on for a while like this!!! Ughh!

How do you explain to your 5 year old that 'dreams' need to be realistic!? LOL! It was a really cute conversation though. :cutie:

It's amazing what an impact Disneyland can have on little kids! Truly amazing!!!:cloud9:

Did you remind her -- she did not have wings. Kinda of hard to fly without wings.

I was so worried that with some of the TV shows grandkids might think they could really fly. Yep, my worse nightmare was showing it's ugly teeth.

Kids had wrapped large towels around neck ( not sure how they got them to stay but that is different story). They were getting ready to "Fly" off the deck. Not to far but far enough to scare me. I wanted to show them that they can not fly by flapping arms and wearing a cape. I had them come indoors and well we found a high and what grandma called safe place to jump from. After about 20 tries they finally realized tinker belle flys, birds fly, and a peice of paper not crumbled into a ball will float. Then we tossed the crumpled ball of paper. Kids were now really understanding and at 4 and 7.

Sorry for the hi-jack

I must say your conversation is so cute. Bless her little heart. It amazes me what ever is going on in the mind of kids. I wish I could revisit at my age -just for the fun of it all.

You are a lucky momma to have a thought making daughter.

Here is an idea for a special treat for her...

We own a small film company in NE Montana and we gave away "free" specialty "memories" videos in a charity auction.

One mother who won really wanted to do video of her daughter in her tink outfit jumping on their trampoline "flying" she wanted to remember this time always. We filmed this but also added a special treat on the video. We set up our green screen behind the little girl jumping and when we edited the video she was flying over the streets of London, Flying through a forest and flying through our own town just like Tink would.

When we did the preview the mom was in tears. We ended up selling her additional copies (good for us) to send as Christmas cards to her far flung family and filming the daughters reaction to the video at her birthday party too. The little girl hugged us and said we were magic.

Beyond the financial gain for us (lots of events for this family and LOTS of referrals to make superman, spiderman, tink etc fly through the air) This is a very special emotional memory for me. Find out if there is someone who does green screen work in your area and make your daughter's dream come true!

When my daughter was three years old she announced that she wanted to be a fairy when she grew up. My DH being typically logical started to try and explain that she couldn't be a fairy. Now I think a little differently, I explained that when she grew up she quite well could be a fairy. That there was a really good possibility that she could be a tooth fairy. I figured that my answer was honest and it made her happy.

Hey Michelle... she really could grow up to be a fairy... Someone will have to inhabit pixie hollow for the next group of 3 year old girls to visit! Being a fairy is a job for some lucky ones!

You know it's true. But, somehow I cannot see her being able to stay "on" for any length of time. Her sarcastic wit could get in the way.

You can also remind her that she doesn't have pixie dust. That helps Tink fly.
