Customs limits for children?

I seem to remember reading that you can bring up to £145 per person in 'gifts' from the USA. Anybody know if this applies to children as well?

Yes it does the only age limit is 17 years for alcohol and tobacco.

Nope its 17. I remember as I went on a college trip to Moscow and we left on my 17th birthday and I bought duty free beer and wine

will check this and dont forget its 21 to drink in usa at least am a little bit older checked it your right if had known would have brought an extra southern comfert back

Paul I must admit 17 is a little 'quirk' in the system, but guess it makes it easier to have just one age limit for tobacco and alcohol.

Not really worried about the alcohol limit, not sure if I'll want to bring any back anyway but between us we are sure to want loads of stuff in the way of gifts.
