flying out from Pearson Int. Airport and going to Walt Disney Orlando for the first time...once customs is cleared in Toronto do we have to clear it again in Orlando before going to the magic express?

Nope. You are cleared to enter the US before you get on your plane in Toronto, so you are good to go once you land. :thumbsup2

Correct....flights that cleared U.S. Customs in Canada are treated like domestic flights here. Off the plane and you're on your own.

Check with your airline - we flew Air Transat from Pearson a few years ago and had to clear customs in Orlando - it was a first for me.

When my parents and I have flown Air Canada or WestJet to Orlando, we have always cleared US Customs in Toronto. I have read that when flying Air Transat they make you clear Customs in Orlando and when Canada 3000 was operating we had to clear Customs in Orlando, which is something I would never want to do again.

It would not be so bad if they had more then two lines open for questioning, not making us check our bags a 2nd time making us pick them up again in the main terminal after picking them up in the Customs area and making us go threw a 2nd security screaning. I am all for tight security and etc, however considering we go threw that Toronto what is the point of doing it again?

Clearing Customs

We've experienced both (in Toronto and in Orlando) before our trips began. It all depends on which terminal you depart from in Toronto.:rotfl2:

A more precise description is, it depends on which airline. The specific terminal you depart from does not play a role. Airlines operating out of terminal one (Air Canada and partners, for example) and three (Westjet, for example), both clear USA Customs in TO.

Most mainstream airlines (Air Canada, Westjet, American, United, Continental, US Airways, Delta, NorthWest, etc) will clear USA customs in TO. The only exception to this rule is for some unforeseen circumstance (usually related to capacity in the custom hall, etc). This unforeseen circumstance is extremely rare (though it has happened). If you fly one of these mainstream airlines, the possibility of not clearing customs in TO is VERY low (about the same probability of getting in a car accident on the way to the airport).

Some of the smaller airlines and charters will clear USA Customs in Orlando. Most will clear USA customs in TO, but some won't (I think some of the rationale why they do not, is cost -- the airlines probably pay a user fee to use preclearance facilities).
