I was on zazzle.com and noticed they have a customizable disney section!

I'm pretty sure that even with the shipping costs it's cheaper than getting a shirt made at DTD, plus there's tons more styles of shirts to choose from AND you can print stuff on the back too! :thumbsup2

Have you looked at the CreativeDisigns board - you can get a tshirt at a craft store (Michaels or ACMoore) for around $4, order transfer paper from AmyMickey and print your own for less than $7 a shirt. Designers will even personalize the designs - it's awesome! I did this for our last trip and the kids loved it! Thought you might want to check it out over there. I used a Space Mountain design on the kids shirts and I had people in line asking me where they could buy one....

Resurrecting an old thread here but I just got my DISign (yay Marion!) And am hoping for some advice on making the shirts... specifically:
1. Do you prewash or pretreat in any way?
2. What material blend works best?
3. What brand of trnsfr works best? I tried looking for AmyMickey but it said no such user...

TIA!!!! :)

Yes, prewash, but don't use fabric softner or dryer sheets.
At least 50/50 cotton is what I use, and I use
Avery dark tee shirt transfers (even on white tees. I tried Amy's and I preferred Avery's.
That being said, MANY Disboarders like Amy's.
Go to the Creative Board and search there for her screen name.

Making your own is definitely the way to go. I try and find a DISign that matches the park for the day, ie Tower of Terror shirt for Hollywood Studios day.

do not go cheap on transfers, actually I even tried to go expensive at Michaels and had terrible luck with cracking. I use Amy Mickey and for the most part have been happy with the way they stand up to washing.

Aleask, do you have AmyMIckey's email? I can't seem to bring her up in search, and when I go to the URL for her website, it tells me there's malware there and I shouldn't proceed or I'll be exposed to a virus from some counter she has on her site. :sad1:

Thanks for the advice! :yay: I will probably go with Avery's too. So even though it says for dark, you can use them on a white t-shirt with a mostly white DISign?

Another AmyMickey user here. I did shirts for our family in 2008 and DH and I are still wearing them. They look as good as new. Need to make new ones for DD as she's outgrown hers.

? I went to Amy Mickey's website and it says she no longer does disney designs. Does this mean she no longer has any Disney designs or just is just not creating new ones?:confused3

For our trip that we just took over the Holidays, I used a Drinking Around the World design that I found online and used PhotoShop to put Christmas 2011 with Disney font and a Mickey Head wreath for the zero. I had them printed at Vistaprint.com. There were 9 of us and with the shirts, printing and shipping, they were just over $50 for the whole thing. Just over $5 per shirt. Not sure how well you can see them in this pic of dd and her fiance but I recommend Vistaprint!!!

Amy Mickey has written right on her front page that she no longer does Disney designs. Oh well....

Amy Mickey does not make (aka DISign) Disney items anymore. She does still sell the iron transfer sheets. I have used them also and they are great.

If you go the the Creative DISigns board here, you will find many people who do designs. Start at the top and read the stickies, it will tell you how to make, who is still making them, and other helpful info.

She hasn't been DISigning Disney for quite some time but her transfers are still available and she does non-Disney designs. That said, there are many wonderful DISigners on the board that have some great shirts they'll personalize for you. Just click on the threads and many have links to their photobuckets accounts so you can see what all they do. Read the first post on their threads to see how they like to receive requests for personalization. Or many you can personalize yourself from their blanks. Careful though, it's addictive!! :lmao:
