Just been looking into car hire and stumbled across this little extra!
Is this already added to your booking or is it something that you pay for when collecting the car. If so has anyone had to pay for this and how much? On US Renta car is says "the customer facility charge is $2.50 to maximum of $12.50 PER DAY!!! for collecting the car off an airport site. Does anyone know anything about this?

It's $2.50 per day to a maximum of $12.50 PER RENTAL. We had to pay it last month and, including tax, it came to $13.31.

Some pre-pay packages, such as Virgin's Platinum insurance, now include it so it might be worth shopping around.

It was supposed to be implemented from 1st Oct 2008. Done 2 trips since (Oct & Xmas) not been charged anything extra so I thought it must have been included in the price I paid. Will see what happens when we collect later this month.

This has been in force since October 2008 and is something the airport has added and the car hire companies just collect it .Some rentals include it some don't -Budget booked with uscarhire does other companies with the same site do not.
