Please, anyone who has done custodial, tell me the good things about this role. I am not sure I am thrilled about it. thanks.popcorn::

I did Custodial for my first program. I wrote all about it in my trip report (accessible by my signature). Lemme know if you have any questions! :)

I did my first program in Custodial too and I actually had a lot of fun. There are some things that aren't particularly pretty, but the job really depends on what you focus on and who you work with. I liked it because I enjoyed all of the guest interaction and the freedom that you get as a custodian. You get a list of certain things you need to do for the day (an action plan) and just have to do things at a specific time. I also made friends with people in the attractions in my area so I could stop in and talk to them when I was working. If I did another program, I'd probably try to do something other than custodial to get new experience, but custodial really isn't that bad.

I did custodial last summer. I worked at Epcot WS. It was not bad at all. I loved the freedom.:)

Brenna posted the link to my blog. Hopefully any of us here can answer your questions.

I did custodial over the summer in 2006 and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was in Downtown Disney. There is a freedom that comes with Custodial but also a trust. I really enjoyed that I had a pretty "set in stone" schedule. I also made tons of friends doing custodial. I loved the ability to walk around and pin trade and help people find things.

Yes, the cleaning can suck, but it is one of those things you just get over. You will see things that you would never think could occur in a bathroom, put you just put your gloves on and deal. It makes for a great story later and you will never be weary about using a public bathroom ever again in your life.

Oh, and your life is not complete until you have cleaned up a protein spill on a rotating dance floor with strobe lights, fog, and a ton of dancing guys happening all around you.:rotfl2:

I did the CP ages ago (fall '99) and had a custodial position at AK. It was fantastic - definitely the best of all my roommates, mostly merchantainment and attractions. Loads of guest interactions and lots of freedom in what I did. Our area (currently Discovery Island) was thankfully overstaffed then which resulted in very little assigned work for those of us lucky enough to get a CP position there. Even for the custodial hosts/hostesses that worked in busier areas it seemed to be an ideal position for anyone who wanted to have alot of interaction with guests - very few other people are able to be out and about without a strict script monitoring what they can and cannot say! I don't think I could have had a better time on the CP than I did doing custodial at AK.

Thank ya'll so much for replying to my cry for help haha...I think you put me and my mother at ease lol We were really worried that I would be hovered over a toilet the whole time, but thankfully it seems that there isnt that much of that! Thanks again!!

Don't worry! I have a lot of friends who did custodial, and most of them LOVED it. Supposedly it's the big "diamond in the rough" role down there, and people have a lot of fun with it. Though some restroom cleaning is involved, that's not all you do...most of what you're doing is guest interaction, actually. If you're a really social person, you'll have a lot of fun with it. One of my good friends has done that, and a couple of other roles, and he says that custodial was actually his favorite, because he felt like he got to know everybody in the park, and made TONS of friends doing it...so don't worry, it won't be that bad :) Plus, if you want to get experience in other areas, you can always pick up shifts! There are almost always shifts to pick up in various other lines of business that don't require any special training, so that's always fun :)

Oh don't worry! You will not be stuck in a bathroom all day.:)
