Currently testing My Magic Plus/Fastpasses at BLT

I think the biggest question mark for me in all this is...it's all well and good that OP and her H have someone from GR who are holding their hands through this test and helping it be as successful as possible from a Guest Relations standpoint, but how dynamic is the system going to be when it's actually up and running? How many changes are you really going to be able to make when you're clamoring with thousands of other guests for the same spots?

This test seems good in that it seems to be revealing technology limitations in the system, but I have no faith that the ride reservation system is actually going to be so accommodating when it's up and running. I'm a bit of a Chicken Little when it comes to this whole thing, though.

It's not hand holding in our opinion. It's trying to rectify problems as they present themselves. It's why they are testing it. We were offered to opt out and declined. It's not them trying to make it successful for us, they are trying to make it successful for everyone. Also, cast members at the attractions are given flexibility. We arrived 15 minutes early for one attraction but the fastpass line was light so she let us on. Management confirmed the flexibility. This is the first test that encompassed annual pass holders and DVC. I expected it to be worse. As far as faith goes, I don't usually have much of it, but they are not gonna roll out something unless it works. It would cost them millions if not billions of dollars.

Nothing is stored on the band itself except for a unique ID number. The MagicBands ID number links back to information stored in other databases on Disney's servers. MagicBands can be marked as 'Lost' which will make that band inactive and a new MagicBand can be associated to that persons My Disney Experience profile and all entitlements will work with the new band.

So if you lose a band, do you have to pay for another one, or do they just replace it? And if you do pay, is it at the original or a reduced price?

thanks so much but one key BLT question. When you say you go to customer service to resolve any of these random problems...where do you really go? BLT desk or CR desk??
We arrive 8/24. No call yet for testing but i'm 50/50 right now. If I can get stuff resolved at BLT which is less crazy than CR front desk I'm more apt to take the chance.

It's my understanding that the replacement band would be grey and $50 if lost. I've heard conflicting reports that the first band lost would be replaced free of charge but they said nothing to us about that. We were not charged for the bands and I'd assume that's the way it will be going forward.

So far the only thing I've seen has to do with replacing MagicBands for passholders. The first replacement will be free, additional replacements will be $50. I've not seen anything that says they will charge resort guests to replace lost MagicBands.

All replacement MagicBands issued at WDW will be gray.

We go to the check-in desk. At BLT it is all in one spot. One desk for guest relation, check in, and concierge.

I agree with DH in saying they are not holding hands. The reason we have to use guest relations at the hotel to change our fastpass times is because My Disney Experience is not cooperating. It is consistently not allowing a fastpass for 1 or 2 members of our party and says that some members of the party have too many fastpasses booked when they had none. Today we tried to schedule a fastpass and could not because apparently we redeemed a fastpass between 8:30 and 9:00 a."m at Peter Pan. Mmmmmm no, I was in the shower that was not possible. We have been told that some other people have had these issues. Because of the problems we were asked not to change any fastpass times and ask the front desk to handle it so they could override the system.

Today we went to Downtown Disney and skipped the parks. We were able to get discounts using the annual pass and DVC however I had to showed either the annual pass or DVC card and a picture ID.

Just another update! Right now we are using our fastpasses to wishes! Sitting on the grass in the Rose Garden with about 30 other people! Amazing!!

Have you been able to get a FastPass+ for Fantasmic? Is there reserved seating or a separate line or what?

Yes they are doing fingerscans with the magic bands.

Yes we had fastpasses for wishes! It was amazing and totally worth booking!

We could have gotten fastpasses for fantasmic but we don't really care for it so we skipped it.

I think it will seem a little Orwellian with everyone walking around with bands on their wrists.

Thanks so much for all the info you have given in this thread. We don't go til November not sure when they officially start it for the public anyway. But I like to plan!

We were there too. :). It was at least double the number of ppl last night then there was on Friday night. Friday was completely awesome with maybe 30ppl max, last night looked to be around 60-70 total.

Also we have APs and we are able to double dip with the APs and the FP+. We aren't guest testers though so I don't have a KTTW card to test whether it pulls FP or not but our APs definitely do pull them.

That must have been too cool!! Quick question... has your lil one had to have his Magic Band scanned at all for your park entrances or parade/fireworks viewings?

They have not scanned the 15 month old for anything. The 5 year old has been scanned.
