What time will onsite guests with a room key need to arrive over the next few weeks to ensure the extra hour?:confused3

We lined up at 7:30 last week to get in at 8 am and we were near the front of the line. The line got very long very quickly.

Probably around 7 o'clock will get you near the front of the line to get in.

I hope so. That line is insane!:scared1:

Would you please post your experience and any advice you might have after you attempt the chaos?:worship:
Will do! We've got our plane tickets, we've got our park tickets, we've got our hotel reservation, so there's no turning back. Little did I know back in Nov. when I made my ressies that things would be this crazy!!!

Storms are moving into the area...just heard a loud clap of thunder at my house...about 20 mins away.

Usually on-site guests get in an hour early. Howver today there were media and other folks. We are staying on-site and got into the park at 8 but the line already stretched to Spiderman via Jurrasic Park.

It's 1pm and the I see a line stretching all the way to Seuss and maybe longer.

we were there 6/4-9...staying at RPR. At that time, the boat started running at 7:30 a.m. to get folks over to IOA, and then the entry gates were held until 7:45, one day not until 8. However, I cannot imagine that now. I would suggest walking over to IOA leaving about 6:30 at the latest and be prepared to wait at the turnstyles until they open the park. Each day that we were there more people arrived, making the lines in the morning longer and longer of onsite guests. While it is a small amount of the overall park attendance, the area to stand in to enter the park is not all that large, it fills up quickly. Then you are escorted to WWOHP with TM's lining the route all along the way so no veering off to take a route other than theirs to WWOHP. If you are heading to another land, I imagine that is not an issue, but we went straight to WWOHP each day. We hit 50/50 on ride running, being down when in the mornings, longest wait we had was abut 40 minutes when it was down once, but if you arrive after 7:30, you will have a wait just due to volume of on-site guests, and we know the resorts were only about 1/2 full when we were there, at least according to management.

I am staying on site. I got in line around 7:15am and was one of the first ones in the park today. I left right after watching the opening on the big screen in the front since I didn't want to fight the crowds and have already ridden the rides this past week.

Universal Studios isn't bad. The longest line was 40 minutes for The Mummy the morning.

I'm not at all surprised that it is a cluster. Uni couldn't even handle the initial hotel guest openings. We did the Sun. and Mon. of Memorial Day weekend. Hotel guests are a limited # of people, but they still nearly had a stampede. They decided to do the Disney method of letting people in the gates a little early, stopping them at a rope near Suess, then walking them to WWoHP at opening time. What occurred was near chaos, with people trying to break out in front, pushing, shoving, etc. I was at the front and keep getting pushed and elbowed till I put on my "I'm from the South Side of Chicago" look and voice tone and threatened the culprits in no uncertain terms. I pity any unassertive people as they were probably trampled. One woman was literally dragging her poor kid on the ground. The "security" was a joke as no one was listening to the yellow polos.

Thankfully Monday morning they gave up on the rope and just let people in as they came through the turnstyles. There were team members are strategic points yelling "Don't run!" which kept things down to maybe a slow jog. It was sooooo much better than the stupid rope that literally created an unruly mob. I can just imagine someone at Universal planning meeting: "Well, the rope thing works at Disney so I'm sure it work just fine here too!"

I wonder if the garages have reached capacity? Even though the wait times at the Studios don't seem bad at all...you still have to use the garage if you're staying offsite.

When we were there for the soft opening, the line for hotel guests was all the way over on the left. There was no signage, I asked at the Guest Services Window.

The first time we went in, it was a mess. There was only 1 person trying to check room keys and scan tickets. People were everywhere, folks were trying to squeeze past this person who shouldn't have been.

They were also asking to see room keys at certain checkpoints as well. No room key you couldn't go further in. My DH and DS had handed me their keys and I've got an injured foot so they got way ahead of DD and I and were stopped at a checkpoint waiting for DD and I to catch up.

The 2nd day I went in alone and there were 4 people there checking room keys and scanning tickets. It was much smoother. They had the checkpoints on the way to HogsMeade on this day too.

I just don't see how anyone staying onsite is going to be able to get past the General Public crowds to get to the early opening turnstyles. It looks awful.

When we were there last week there were 12 people scanning tickets and also there were people checking room keys before you got to the area. If you didn't have a room key, they were sending you to the right to wait. If you had a room key you were sent into the lines on the left. Once you got past the first people (before the kiosk area) they were making sure that people were in proper lines for all scanners. It ran very smoothly. Attendants were situated all along the route and stopped people from running.

I sincerely hope they are using the hand held scanners today with the mob! The regular scanners just don't work.
