Current work at the Fort

@bama_ed , this DVC member thinks it looks like an eyesore as it stands now as well…

They could have done something to integrate much better with the fort, but perhaps those imagineering days have been replaced by accountineering.

Another thing I thought of today, @tidefan, is that this ignorance of the views and effects on nearby themes is the same action that is occurring with the closing of the Liberty Belle and Tom Sawyer Island in favor of some Cars-Land themed rides (new IP). Imagine trying to immerse in the Frontierland theme (what will be left of it) and seeing, what, new stuff based on a purchased studio IP (the Muppets say "Hello"). Maybe it should be based or entered from Fantasyland. Because a guest would have to pretend REAL HARD that these rides have any relationship to the embedded rides and themes around it.

Disney seems to have an edict to force the new IP characters and motifs into vacancies (including the dvc eyesore behind Pioneer Hall) where they really don't fit (or "create" vacancies). The redo of Splash Mountain is an example. Okay by itself but 'The Princess and The Frog' movie is a swing and a miss for me. How many "mountains" are in Louisiana (setting of TPaTF)? They could put the same theme into the Lilo and Stitch showcase in Tomorrowland and it would make just as much sense as it does now. Again, you have to pretend REAL HARD that a story set in Louisiana has mountains ......

But Di$ney now will do anything for the buck$. It's like I've said before in college football: no matter what the question is - the answer is always "money". ('Why are we doing this <whatever this is>? Because we think we'll make more money').

Disney is declining by degrees-and has been. drip, drip, drip ......

It does appear the new lodge will be getting its own boat dock, based the pilings and structure the “floatmaster” is installing.

They might have their own boat dock, but the folks staying in the cabins on Clementine’s Beach and those in rooms behind Pioneer Hall will undoubtedly use the Fort’s boats. And then complain about sharing it with “those poor, dirty campers”.

As a reminder, here is the info shared in other places about the Meadow construction behind the pool and tennis courts.

I note the dry pond will only have a 2-ft depth.

The LIFT STATION for sewage is shown on the drawing next to the building. I checked google for lift stations and saw this link that mentions lift and pump stations:

https://aqualisco.com/lift-station-vs-pump-station/

I wonder if the building is for a PUMP STATION which is used to raise water from a lower elevation to a higher one. To get water to the new eyesore (and to get it up to the top floors of the building to flush, shower, and drink) would require pumps. New ones at that maybe since there is no service to that location currently (I don't know if the old River Country piping would still be serviceable or adequate).

Water tanks for cities/counties are built on high points (hills) so gravity can feed it through the system. But I live less than a half mile from Alabama's football stadium and the city uses huge pumps on the water supply system so the toilets, concessions, and other water needs in the upper deck (for example) can get the water they need. I don't know where a water tank might be that serves the Fort area or existing pumps but to get it to the upper reaches of the timeshare/resort behind Pioneer Hall, they might need new/more pumps.

It kinda makes sense if you think about it because the Meadow Pool is probably the biggest user of water (duh) in the Fort Wilderness area (second might be the HDDR/TE kitchen or cabin pool). But the Meadow pool is probably on the existing water supply network so that's where Disney can tap into it for more "pushing power" to satisfy the new demand that is coming.

Bottom line is, it could be a utility building for water pumps.

From the link above, here is the drawing of the changes/work:

PS - or the building could be for an adults-only sauna and massage club :rotfl2:

I'm assuming that there are no canoe/kayak rentals during this work?

Also, if it's just a pumping station, what kind of eye sore will that be there? I would hope for a lot of good landscaping.
