Current Wildfires and driving

Hi all! We will be in Anaheim 9/1 - 9/5. Our plan was to get a rental car first thing Monday morning, 9/5 which is Labor Day. See a few sights in LA/Hollywood and then drive to Las Vegas to finish out our vacation and fly home from there. I noticed the news about the closures on I-15 and am wondering if we should change our plans. Any suggestions on an alternate route to Las Vegas from Anaheim?

I would think that the fires would be out by then. It would be a very long drive to go another route.

So you will be driving i15 around 9/4? That's a little over 2 weeks from today. As of Wednesday
(Aug 17) all lanes were open. I do not believe that the fire will return to that area in 2 weeks.
You should be okay. In general fires move on as it burns the brush. I believe Hwy 15 was closed
for only a few hours on Tuesday (Aug 16) and fully open soon after.

You should be fine. Fires have moved on from there and left very little fuel to burn should the winds shift drastically and push the fire backwards.
