Talk to me about best options for lowest wait time for TT, looking for experiences in past few months…I’m not a huge fan and typically skip it, but for our Sept trip, my youngest DS is finally tall enough and I think the kids (and husband) will enjoy it so I’m trying to work it into my plan. I’m an ADHD adult who doesn’t prefer to wait in ANY line for more than 30min….so what’s my best option?

Rope drop (and risk a delayed start/wasting time in line) or end of day (which would probably be 8 or 9 for our family)but risk weather closures?
-We would likely be entering at IG.
-Single rider line is not an option, kids are too young.
Thx!

Rope drop is not a guarantee. We tried to rope drop last week, waited for an hour. Their ride testing wasn’t working so they failed to open at all and then came on the loud speaker saying it would be at least another hour. This was on a sunny day so weather wasn’t a factor. Hope for fastpasses or that it’s not down at rope drop or be prepared for at least an hour wait.

We have had better luck at the end of the day.
And going on the outside track at night is fun.
As noted, RD is hit or miss as far as the ride being open and the line. It also depends if you are coming in the front entrance or IG.

Rope drop is a bigger risk than late night but also, the biggest reward. Its running at rope drop (or shortly thereafter) more than it isn't so I would definitely consider that as luck being in your favor. My suggestion would be to try top rope drop it and if it isnt running, go go your plan B. If you didnt hit it at rope drop, anything after 8pm is usually a good bet

If you can hit it as soon as it opens after being shut down (which seems to be often) that works too. We did that in June and waited about 20 minutes.

Totally agree with this. This ride is down a lot! I suggest planning to rope drop it, and make sure you're in the front of the pack! If it's down, just be okay with waiting a bit at the end of the night. We switched a park reservation last week so that we could do just that, and rope drop worked well for us. It was down every other time we were in Epcot.

Someone mentioned Single Rider... Is that back yet? It wasn't available yet when we were there about 3 weeks ago

We have Park Hoppers and are staying at the Boardwalk for our first seven nights so I am pretty sure we are going to hop over to Epcot many of the evenings. We will try for test track right before close and just bite the bullet if it means a longer line. Or maybe we will try during the Epcot nighttime show. Like others have said, test track is historically one of the most down rides on property. Hopefully it’ll be running when we try to ride

Did it seem to save you time versus the regular queue?

Yes, we did it once and it was pretty much a walk on late in the afternoon. My teen gets a little anxious not sitting with us on rides though so wasn’t a fan.

How will I know if it’s gonna run at RD? Like should they be actively running empty test cars as people are queuing when the park first opens?

A lot of people say go later in the evening, but here is the recent reality for Test Track. It looks like it is pretty constant.

You won’t know If it will run or not until you get all the way over and in line which is one of the major issues we had at every park while we were there last week. It happened to us with Test Track, Splash, RnR coaster. Everest was also down at open but at least we weren’t in that line. They will be trying to run cars but the rope drop crowd is already in the queue. They did announce it would not open and would be at least an hour delay after we had already spent an hour in that line but the rest of the park was open at that point.

You'll have to get there to see.

Thats why it's a risk...nobody knows if it will be running BUT it is running more than it isn't so the odds are in your favor. If you do get there and it's closed, thats where the decision comes in and the big payout can really come through. Most people at that point will turn around and go somewhere else so you can do what most people do and end up waiting longer for wherever you go and still have an extended wait for Text Track later in the day OR stay put and keep your fingers crossed.

Last week we always stayed put and had a mixed bag of results.

1st attempt - we rope dropped universal and went straight to hagrids over velocicoaster. It was down and we waited probably close to an hour, by the time we got off there was lightenting in the area, Velocicoaster was down and when it reopned and we got there it was already an hour wait

2nd attempt - rope dropped magic kingdom, held at adventure land and went to splash / thunder. Stayed to the left, went to splash and it was down. Almost everyone turned around and went to thunder plus everyone that was going to thunder to begin with. We stayed put, waited MAYBE ten minutes and watched the standby time at thunder jump to 45 almost immediately. Got off splash
walked on thunder and the wait at splash was up to 50 minutes

3rd attempt - rope dropped HS and made our way to slinky dog. We were just to the point where you would tap your MB the second time for FP and they shut it down (after it being ran for the first 10/15 minutes or so. Announcement came on and said the ride would be closed for an unknown amount of time...of course, CMs wouldnt say why but we could literally see them trimming limbs near the track so we waited. After 45 minutes they finally came out and gave us FPs for later in the day

Yep...for the most part, all day is going to be a long wait. After 8 is really when things "level off"...not so much of a drop but it does tend to level off

Oh, no doubt. I think standby was posted 60 and we waited maybe 20
Perfect. Thanks

It normally saves us time as well, I was wondering roughly how much it is worth splitting up our family of 5 versus all riding at the same time together.

My 4 kids and I got into the single rider line last Sunday about 9 and waited maybe 10 minutes. Standby quoted 60. Of the 5 of us, 2 pairs got to ride together in the same car.

I would wait until a bit later in the afternoon. We came in at the International Gateway and booked it to Test Track. It was still over an hour wait. I think those being held and let it at the front of the park are much closer to the ride and have the advantage. The wait was never any higher during the rest of the day than it was when we tried to rope drop it.
