All of those things you mentioned are in place to help reduce transmission of a dangerous disease- to save lives and reduce illness. While it definitely changes the experience, without these safety procedures in place, it would be too dangerous to operate. Unfortunately too many people were not wearing masks because they were “eating” or just flatout breaking the rules, or uncovering their noses at both parks, so overhead announcements have been increased and the language made firmer. I noticed higher compliance after this, so it seems to be working.
At Universal, the security area and area between security and Citywalk have a constant safety loop. Announcements are made periodically throughout the entire park, including queues. I’m not sure if it’s every ten minutes. There are different versions; a male narrated, female narrated, and in queues an occasional live announcement. Universal has even better spacing in the queues than Disney, accounting for distance laterally much better. Capacity has been reduced on all rides except the two big roller coasters and in all dining locations. Not sure about the stores. The tribute store does have a limit and queue, though they let far too many people in.
No one knows about the masks but I suspect Universal and Disney will act together on it.
