current rise of the resistance is unfair

I’ve been 3 times in 2020. No luck. Meanwhile, locals reserve from home and ride all the time. There should be a way to reserve spots for ride virgins ahead of those who seem to live on this greatest ride ever that breaks down regularly.
I’m getting to the sour grapes part of my personality and I’m starting to hate DHS.
I pay for my ticket just like everyone else. I go through the same system just like everyone else.

Sorry but reserving it for first timers just isn't going to fly. It sounds good to you because it effects you.

How is it not fair? Everybody has to go through the same process and everybody has the same chances of getting a boarding group. It does not favour anybody. Sounds fair to me. Oh wait, it’s only fair if YOU get what YOU want. Got it.

At least now I have a choice to pick another park after I do not get the BP.
Last time we felt stuck at HS after we did not get a bp.

And it is true we did not get a boarding pass after buying new phones so they would be faster and practicing and signing in the second 7am arrived.

Sorry you wasted your money on new phones you may not have needed. But you need to understand the technology you are dealing with.

It is not a question of how fast your phone is, or how fast your internet connection is. The connection to MDE is a very simple database. The database can on handle a certain number of queries into the database at any single milliseconds. Those 1st queries get taken up the second the connection opens. Now, there are hundreds of additional query spots that open up in the seconds after, but if you don't get extremely lucky to get one of the very first queries or access to the DB, everything beyond that is pure chance. And it is luck. you have 10,000 people trying to get 1,000 spots.

Your phone hardware itself has zero impact. Wifi vs Cellular is the only thing that makes a difference. Not because of speed. But because Disney's wifi had multiple access points all over the parks and resorts. Each access point has a certain number on connections it can make to the network from that access point. If you are in a park with hundreds of users trying to connect at that same access point, someone is going to get denied access.

While the cellular network has similar contraints, they generally allow more connections. but anyone who has every tried to send a text at a football game or concert can tell you. Large number of people trying to use their phones doesnt work well for anyone.

The very low amount of data being sent makes it so internet bandwidth does not matter.

So, to sum all of this up.........It is all complete luck. You either have it, or you dont.

I do 100% agree here, and it would be easy to implement. But I am sure there is some legal reason why they dont do it.

Not us deplorable passholders according to Chapek.
Well ive gotten a bg the almost 30 times over ridden it, definitely not luck ABC's definitely getting the value worth my ticket in that aspect
The whining about the current process makes me laugh, all the same people would be upset when waiting hours in standby and then not riding it

I told my group we get 2 shots next May. We've got two schedule days (technically we have 2, my brother has 1!), if we don't get on it, then that's that. Be prepared for disappointment! :D

I'm not wasting a park reservation day for more than 2 DHS days.

Sorry yulilin, but people whine here for a lot less.

It is annoying to not be able to get on a ride when you only go once every 3 or 4 years. But it is what it is.

I know it's annoying and disappointing but whining about the current process, which is what this thread is, is useless. This is the best process under the current circumstances

What is messed up about the distribution now is people are getting multiple park reservations for the week, then switching parks when they don't get a BG. OK, but it's messing up everybody else's trip because they can't get a park reservation.
I have a fix - hear me out;
Get your BG for Rise when you get your park reservation, first come, first serve. If you don't get a BG when you make your reservation you know right away - switch to a different park or live with it, your choice. They could still do the 2p distribution if things go great and they can add more BG's. Make that distribution for anyone that did not have one when they entered the park. I would think you'd be almost guaranteed to get one - most people that did not have one either didn't want it or were not that committed to getting one in the first place.

As for us, I liked it, my older kids liked it, my DW and younger DD could live without riding and in fact (don't get mad) didn't really like it. Personally yes, I'll be up at 7 to try and get BG's, but I'd be fine waiting until the hysteria dies down to ride again if it came to that.

FWIW - the scarcity of BG's for RoTR reminds me a lot of the early days of TT. It broke down A LOT, and was shut by lightning when it wasn't broke. My DW and I actually made three trips to EPCOT in a week (park hoppers of course) specifically to try and ride the first time we did. We finally got on - in the single-rider line - we didn't even ride together. years later, TT is no big deal. RoTR will be the same way.

Maybe they should open it for one day without BGs, so Disney can go, "see, this is why" lol

Lol, that's the day it works flawlessly.

Sure sure, rub it in! You guys get to go all the time! :D

I'm not even telling Micky if we don't get the Boarding Group...I'll just tell him it's closed for refurbishment and we can try again in 2023...

Ive figured the success rate for Dissers is about 98% you have all the info to successfully get a bg.

haha

I seriously do wish I could give people more tips. I can't explain how i'm so lucky with it. I don't do anything different than 99% of the other people.

It would be so much easier if we had this system along with park hopping in it's original form and no park reservations. We could try each morning and easily switch park days.

I'm not saying I don't like the new park reservation system, but in regards to this ride, the old way would have been better.

my solution.......one day a week.....Monday....it is only open stand by....if you want to spend your vacation waiting in line for 5 hours......this is your day!

I doubt that. Have you seen videos from the BG distribution @ DL? That was CRAZY, and the majority of DL visitors are pass holders. They can jump over to DCA very easily. Do away with BG's and you get the mess USF has with Hagrids. That said, not a fan of the current system either because it does favor the experienced visitors who know the procedure and have done it before. RoTR just suffers from tech issues and popularity. Hate to say it, but you will never satisfy everyone until the reliability improves and the popularity declines.
