Current Reservation Balance...what happens to it?

If a discount code comes out that I can use, AND there is a room avaliable when I call, how do they handle the money we have paid toward our current reservation(we would cancel the 1st reservation, of course).

Do they charge it back towards your credit card(which takes our bank FOREVER to credit) or transfer the payments towards your new reservation?

Also, the reservation is in my husband's name. So am I correct, that they will not let me do any changes to the reservation?

If you can not apply your code to your reservation you have right now then they will cancel the one you have, credit the money to your account and then charge you for the new reservation.
This is what happened to me... I don't know if it happens all the time.

If you are modifying an existing package reservation, you should keep the same reservation/itinerary number and so there should not be a problem. If you are modifying a room only reservation the funds will automagically transfer to the new reservation if a new reservation number is generated. If changing from room-only to package or package to room-only, the reservations department can have the accounting department transfer the original deposit to the new reservation.

Even if you are not the primary guest on the reservation, you will be able to modify the reservation as long as you are a guest listed on the reservation itself.
 
If you change from a package to room only or room only to package you CANNOT have your deposit transfered unless it was made by check. If it was made by Credit Card it will be refunded and recharged.
 

We had room only. They cancelled it and refunded the money then made the new reservation and charged it again. At least that is what happened to us I don't know what others have had happen.
