It’s hardly ever available at the popular restaurants.

Actually (although I suppose it depends on what you consider the "popular" restaurants) I have been "playing around" with MDE every evening seeing what restaurants are available for walk-ups and have been surprised at how many and which ones have availability; Garden Grill, Le Cellier, Chefs de France, and Tutto Italiano come up regularly at EPCOT and Citricos, Narcoosees, Cape May Cafe, Yacht Club Steakhouse, Trattoria al Forno, Chef Mickeys, and Saana frequently come up in the resorts feed. Nomad Lounge and Tiffins frequently pop up with availability at AK ... and Tusker House too! We're going in December and will likely stick with our one ADR which we booked at Wine Bar George and stick with counter service or a last minute pick if we feel like it.
