Hi everyone,

We were on a cruise in February on the Fantasy and it seemed like most of the musical entertainment we saw, beyond the sisters in the atrium, were instrumental players (violinist, soft piano, etc.) . Is this common for disney cruises? On our cruise there wasn't even a DJ (beyond the one on the pool deck during certain shows). Is this how the Disney musical entertainment is typically? Has it changed recently? I'm use to cruises with singing piano players, or guitar players or a large band or a nightly DJ, etc.

Just wondering if this is typical or if its changed since February with restrictions easing up.

The only place you're going to find a dj on a DCL cruise is in an adult club at night, or on the pool deck during certain activities as you described. That is the norm for DCL and I much prefer it to a loud live band or constant DJ. Once we were docked by a Norwegian ship and the noise from their pool deck music was so overwhelmingly loud that we had to go back inside. I'm glad DCL isn't like that.

I'm not looking for a loud band or constant DJs. I'm just asking if the entertainment is mainly instrumental. Like I was stating, the cruise we went on had a violinist playing instrumental music. A piano player playing soft music and then one singer in the atrium every once in a while. Does Disney typically not having a singing guitar player or singing piano player? Is that sort of entertainment typical? I personally enjoy a good piano bar or a good acoustic guitar singer, but haven't been on Disney enough to know what is normal.

Are you talking about in the atrium? They usually have a rotation. On our recent cruise we had two sisters (one piano and one guitar) and they sang. And then we had two guys, again, one piano and one guitar and they sang. We also had one guy who played a guitar and sang in one of the adult areas and a lady playing a violin. They tend to mix it up, but generally for the adult venues and atrium they have 3-4 different musical acts depending on the length of the cruise and those same acts rotate through various adult venues as well.

I'm mainly talking about all the venues. For your cruise, the two guys who sang on piano and guitar, was this a recent cruise or before restrictions? I think then because of restrictions they were not singing. On my cruise in February we had a violinist, the two sisters in the atrium as you stated, and then a pianist that did not sing. She just played some soft instrumentals, nothing upbeat. No singing guitar player or singing piano player either.

I’m on the Disney Wonder right now and we have a singing piano player, a singing guitar player and a singing duo, the latter two of whom have appeared in multiple venues (the piano player is pretty much limited to the Cadillac Lounge). I think there’s only one instrumental-only act.
