We bought 210 points today at the Doorway to Dreams in Woodfield Mall near Chicago. The incentives were a little different from what I thought they would be based on my research on this board, as well as, others. Here was the breakdown:
The incentives are as follows:
1. $8 off per point. You have your choice to take that off the total cost or get a gift card to use as you wish.
2. With 210 points, you get a $1000 Disney Visa gift card. You would get $500 if you purchase less than 210 points (minimum of 160 points)
3. With 210 points you get your choice of a 4-night cruise or 5-night one-bedroom at SSR or savannah view at AKV Kidani Village. If you want AKV, you must travel next summer of 2009, otherwise your only choice is SSR. If you purchase less than 210 points, you will only have the choice of the 5-night stay, no cruise. Also, we will book our trip when Member Services calls us in a couple of weeks once everything is closed. It is guaranteed. I figured a 1-bedroom for 5 nights works out to be 208 points, so we didn't lose anything. A rather good deal if you only purchase 160 points, IMO. The cruise would have been a much better deal, but it doesn't work for our family.
4. Three FPs per day per person during your 5-night stay to use at the theme parks. This is good for us because DH, who is the FPV, will not be on this trip!
5. Closing costs are $235 if you pay cash; I think they were $320 if you financed. We paid cash and will officially close in less than two weeks, according to our guide.
