We bought 210 points today at the Doorway to Dreams in Woodfield Mall near Chicago. The incentives were a little different from what I thought they would be based on my research on this board, as well as, others. Here was the breakdown:

The incentives are as follows:
1. $8 off per point. You have your choice to take that off the total cost or get a gift card to use as you wish.
2. With 210 points, you get a $1000 Disney Visa gift card. You would get $500 if you purchase less than 210 points (minimum of 160 points)
3. With 210 points you get your choice of a 4-night cruise or 5-night one-bedroom at SSR or savannah view at AKV Kidani Village. If you want AKV, you must travel next summer of 2009, otherwise your only choice is SSR. If you purchase less than 210 points, you will only have the choice of the 5-night stay, no cruise. Also, we will book our trip when Member Services calls us in a couple of weeks once everything is closed. It is guaranteed. I figured a 1-bedroom for 5 nights works out to be 208 points, so we didn't lose anything. A rather good deal if you only purchase 160 points, IMO. The cruise would have been a much better deal, but it doesn't work for our family.
4. Three FPs per day per person during your 5-night stay to use at the theme parks. This is good for us because DH, who is the FPV, will not be on this trip!
5. Closing costs are $235 if you pay cash; I think they were $320 if you financed. We paid cash and will officially close in less than two weeks, according to our guide.:yay: :yay: :yay:

Great Deal. I agree the cruise is the best value. Anyway a gal from MA can get in on this, or are these specials only for IL folk?

I have no idea about if they are ONLY at Doorway to Dreams location. I was very shocked about not having to stay at SSR on developer's points. I didn't really want to push it because the guide was so nice and I didn't want to seem like a "know it all". If you already have a guide with DVC, a phone call couldn't hurt. My initial plan was that if the incentives at the Dreams location were not as good as what I had read on the boards, I was going to walk out and call our original guide that we have spoken to during the last month or so. No need because this actually works out better for us. :yay:

I was kind of looking forward to staying in a studio at SSR for 10 days, but will now stay in a 1-bedroom at AKV for 7 (will use some of our points to extend the stay, which is what we would have done for SSR anyways). The bonus is that my sister can now travel with us. In our minds, who cares about a couple of days next summer because we are going back the next year after that! :cool1:

and again, and again, and again.....:woohoo:

Congrats! We just purchased today too over the phone, then this evening we made another trip out to Doorway to Dreams just to take another look at the models. I swear everywhere we went in the whole mall there was DVC advertising, it was crazy!

Have a blast with your purchase!

Congrats on your purchase!

I really didn't notice the advertising because we only went to lunch and left. We don't live close to Woodfield (45 min. trip), so it is not our normal mall of choice. I was surprised as to how busy they were. There were at least 5-6other families discussing DVC in the back while we were there. They even mentioned that they were "crazy" busy for some reason. I do have to say the best part of the experience was the Kid's Club. WOW!!!! :yay: My son didn't want to leave! Maybe the secret is out.....

Can you phone the woodbridge location? Or do you have to viisit it personally. I am getting confused because I dont think the Disney location is offering exactly the same thing, and if I am buying in, I do want the very best deal (of course - lol)

IMO--it doesn't hurt to try! What's the worst that can happen? They say, "no" and you decide what is best for your family.

Congrats and Welcome home, we also purchased thru Doorway to Dreams but back when they first opened.

I believe these incentives were for the 1 year anniversary. They were ONLY for Doorway to Dreams sales. If so, then they ended on Saturday as that was the last day of the celebration. Worth calling, but don't be too disappointed.

Are you saying that the last day for the incentives that we were given was on Saturday?

The CM didn't say anything like that to us--otherwise I wouldn't have even posted so not to make others feel that they had missed out on something. I did know about the anniversary celebration they had during the first weekend in August--I figured that we missed out on anything/everything given that weekend.

Yes, saturday was the last day for the free vacation or free cruise. Now it is matching developer points, the $500/$1000 GC and the $8 off per point.

The free vacation isn't a ton different than the matching developer points but while I haven't priced the cruise out, everyone I spoke with said it was the best deal...didn't work for us though because I have no one I could leave my kids with for the better part of a week.

Now that the incentive we received is over, are the developer points just for SSR or can you use them for AKV after May 2009?

The price of a 5-night stay with Savannah View is 208 pts. for the Magic Season--we bought 210 so it is a wash for us, but at least we get to stay at AKV.

P.S. I apologize if anyone got excited over the incentive we received. I had NO IDEA that we got it on the last day--no one said a word to us when we decided to buy.

:confused3
They are only for SSR or the Disneyland collection or deposit into international exchange.

If you really want the free vacation/cruise I would call soon. The guide we met with on Saturday said she could offer that incentive up to 1 week after it ends. Maybe it's just cause we were there already :confused3 but if it's a deal breaker I bet they'll try to accomodate you if at all possible.
