Current fountain drinks on Disney Fantasy?

They have Freestyle machines tied into the RapidFill RFID chips now at the resorts?

Even so, would they use that chip technology with Freestyle machines on the ships? I mean, they could have installed RapidFill technology long ago with the existing soda setup if they really wanted, right?

They have it at POFQ. Not sure about other resorts. But even the ones that have regular fountains use RFID.

They do not have RFID in the cups now on board, so I do not see them adding it in. Unless they eventually go to a soda package. But as long as it is included there is no need on the ships.

They are at POFQ for sure. But due to the RFID chip in the refillable mugs and single purchase cups you cannot do the flush thing.
Ah that is good to know! I'm planning on staying at POR during my next trip so it's an easy walk over to POFQ.

Right. That was my point about how it would probably be OK to let the nozzle clear for a few seconds before putting your cup under it. DCL doesn't seem inclined to want to add RapidFill to the ships.

I would be stunned - literally, stunned - if DCL ever started trying to charge for soda. One could argue that the cost of a soda package is already baked into DCL's far-higher-than-average cruise fares.

It wasn't since I've been cruising DCL, but I believe there was a time where they were charging for sodas. If I recall correctly, it didn't last long.

Maybe @mmouse37 knows?

I agree that it will forever be baked into the fare.

I’d love it if they introduced the Freestyle machines, but ONLY IF using them were free and not some kind of paid add-on drink package.

Yes, I know I’d still be paying for the machines via an increase in my cruise fare, but I just hatehatehate mentally budgeting for à la carte expenses on a cruise.
You mean the way DCL used to be? We cruised before soda was included. My kids just lived off the fruit punch in the buffet.

I like the Freestyle machines, but I personally think it would be a huge mistake on the cruise. My experience at WDW started at the GF and they were not reading chips yet. The kids would make a drink, taste it, dump it and would just stand there going through all the choices. The machines were a sticky mess.

Also after our last cruise being on precautions where nobody was allowed to serve themselves I think this would cause issues as well. I can't see the crew having to deal with serving people and going through all the choices.

I do think the poweraide would be a good addition to the current machines, even if it is just one.

Well, maybe it could be. The problem would be what flavor? You'd have people complaining about "it's not my favorite flavor".
That’s true but Disney has always had the mountain blast ‘blue’ flavor afaik. I’ve seen it at the resorts and on CC. I left the suggestion on the comment card but of course I forgot to turn in the comment card. 🥴

Well, you can always mail it in.

Disney World only has1 flavor that I have ever seen at hotel soda machines (regular machines) - blue. And let's be real... they could put free flowing champagne on the ship and someone would complain.

Blue is my favorite color. 🙃
I agree with squirk that the freestyle machines would definitely be a easiest solution to please everyone. They’re just very slow to operate and hard to keep clean.

On the other hand both of my kids have specifically told me "no blue" Powerade.

The Freestyle machines in the DVC lounge in Epcot have multiple Powerade flavors. At least, they did as recently as last October. I don't know about the resort ones, but I am guessing they are configured the same way.

You're right about the champagne thing, too. "Tattinger's? That's crap!"

I think I read that the pomegranate light lemonade is gone? or was that in the parks. I really liked it :p

Yeah the freestyle machines will have multiple flavors including the zero Powerade options. We were just mentioning that when it comes to the regular soda fountains available at the resorts and on CC that Disney seems to only have the 1 flavor option which is the blue mountain blast flavor.

All things considered, it's safe to assume that IF DCL decided to add Powerade to their soda fountain line up that it would be the blue flavor. Sorry children of PrincessShmoo.

Maybe blue is just a differentiator? Seems like you already have green covered with Mountain Dew, yellow with the lemonade, red/orange with the Hi-C fruit punch, etc.

What if DCL put in Freestyle with RFID cups? You got keepsake mugs for each person in your stateroom. We wouldn’t have to bring our own cups and they wouldn’t have as much waste....
