Does anyone have an update on what has been available at the drink stations recently?

As long as they have Diet Coke next week, I am good. :)

Thanks. Yes, i have seen a lot of posts from a couple years ago but would love to hear from any recent cruises what the current lineup is.

I'll second this but in 2 weeks. ;)

I seriously doubt that they will be getting rid of Diet Coke any time soon. It might be that stations on one side have it and the other have Coke Zero, but Diet Coke is about as much a staple as Coke and Sprite at Disney properties and ships.

I’d love it if they introduced the Freestyle machines, but ONLY IF using them were free and not some kind of paid add-on drink package.

Yes, I know I’d still be paying for the machines via an increase in my cruise fare, but I just hatehatehate mentally budgeting for à la carte expenses on a cruise.

On the other hand, I hope they don't do the free-style machines. I've never had any luck with them (always broken, no product, sticky). Plus, IMO, the small amounts of left over product in the single spigot would/could cause off-putting flavor in the next drink dispensed.

Agreed. They have them at AMC Movie theaters here, and I always select my drink and then let it run without my cup under it for a few seconds to clear out whatever concoction the person who used it before me.

Yes, you can do that. But, then, you're not getting the full product you paid for. I think I'll just continue to bring my own sodas (that I can't find onboard, anyway) onboard.

I think we’ve had this exact conversation before (or maybe it was @Dug720). My experience with these has been altogether positive. Rarely experienced broken machines; never noticed the taste of the previous user’s selection in my drink.

Honestly, for the variety and customization they offer, I am happy to run a few seconds of plain water through the nozzle as a rinse before dispensing my soda.

How do you mean? Every Freestyle machine I’ve ever seen lets you dispense as much as you want - i.e., you wouldn’t be “shorting” yourself by running plain water for a few seconds.

You’ve seen Freestyles that do otherwise?

^^^^^^^ That right there is the truth. When we did our Western Caribbean on the Fantasy a couple of months ago it was Coke Zero on some of the stations and on others, it was Diet Coke. Coke products are all that is served when it comes to Disney... Too bad though, I love my Diet Dr. Pepper!

Yes, because they do not do the timed refill thing. You can refill as much and as often as you like. So even letting some run before I still get a full cup.

The ones at WDW resorts. Your cup - refillable mug or single cup - has a chip that only allows refills every x minutes (or up to 3 in a 2-hour period for the single cups) and has to be on the base to dispense soda.

I guess the machines I've run into were first generation ones, or something. You selected your drinks/flavors, and pushed a button to dispense. It dispensed XX amount into a cup already placed under the spigot. You couldn't just hold the button and it dispensed until you released it.

Some are like that - the WDW resort ones for sure. But at the AMC movie theaters around here (NYC) you do not have to have the cup under to dispense.

I was on the Fantasy in May and they also had some sort of Vitamin water in the sode fountain as well. I wish DCL would bring Powerade on board. They have it available on CC and all the resorts have it available in the food court soda fountains.

As for the freestyle machines, I personally love them but good tip to let your selection spray out a second or two to empty out the previous contents. The selection cannot be beat but I can only imagine the bottleneck it would create with people taking forever to choose their drinks scrolling through the selections and kids goofing around. DCL would need a bunch of them to keep up with demand.

Has Disney brought the freestyle machines out to any resorts yet? I just know they are available in the DVC & Chase lounges.

They are at POFQ for sure. But due to the RFID chip in the refillable mugs and single purchase cups you cannot do the flush thing.

We are DVC, and we usually stock up our villa with groceries. As such, we rarely hit the resort food courts. They have Freestyle machines tied into the RapidFill RFID chips now?

Even so, would they use that chip technology with Freestyle machines on the ships? I mean, they could have installed RapidFill technology long ago with the existing soda setup if they really wanted, right?
