I currently have the Disney AP (standard - no blackouts) that I purchased last June (it doesn't have the photopass , this was the AP before the new platinum pass was created in October). I am up for renewal June 19th and should be DVC member by that point. (Waiting on ROFR now). My question is, will I be able to convert my AP to a gold DVC AP and utilize the renewal rate pricing for gold DVC AP? My current pass would have a renewal rate of $649 plus tax. Will I be able to renew at $470 (or whatever the gold renewal rate is) and "downgrade" to the gold DVC AP once I'm officially DVC?

Not sure how, if at all, your situation changes things, but I am pretty sure you can "RENEW" up to 30 days after your pass expires but it renews at the same date, you do not sneak an extra 30 days out of a renewal.

Understood, I just more want to know if I'm going to be able to pay gold DVC renewal rate. If I have to pay full price DVC gold I'll just wait until my July trip since it would be same rate anyways.

Disney lets you renew your annual pass to any annual pass you are eligible to buy at the renewal rate. So if you had a Premium Annual Pass and you decide that now the Gold DVC pass is good enough for you, come renewal time, you can then renew your PAP for the Gold DVC pass and you pay only the renewal cost on the Gold DVC Pass.

The year later, you decide that you are going to be there during blackout dates and maybe would like to do the water parks, you can then renew to the Platinum Plus Annual Pass.

Something I will pass on....

For a very long time, a myth has existed that CALLING DVC for an Annual Pass Renewal will result in a lower price than doing that renewal online, at the main WDW Website.
We were concerned about this. So, for several days, we CONTACTED DVC about this perceived issue.

It took a few "contact us" emails. We FINALLY got a call from DVC, regarding a SPECIFIC QUESTION:

"I used the official WDW website for renewal. My impression is that this was a horrible mistake - and that the official WDW website is flawed, not reflecting proper DVC discounts. I should avoid it in the future, and CALL." (Email1)

"My original question was NOT answered. I will REPHRASE:
When renewing a DVC AP, is the price for renewal IDENTICAL going through the web based system located at: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ , vs CALLING DVC at (800)-800-9800?
YES or NO. Just YES OR NO." (EMail2)

A very kind CM did indeed contact us. I got a very SPECIFIC answer....

"IF you are logged in as a DVC Member - the renewal price for an AP on the MAIN WDW Website will be IDENTICAL to the price you pay when CALLING DVC".

Folks, this is important when read correctly. First, INSURE that the main WDW Website recognizes you as a DVC Member. That would be an "affiliation". If it does NOT? Fix this first.... it will affect a number of things.

Second - once RECOGNIZED - you don't have to CALL DVC.
Wise move on WDWs part.... calls cost money. Use the main WDW Website - the cost will be identical.
