Where is the best place to buy currency? Are there places that you can get better deals than others?
Thanks, Beady..

There are usually small differences between different foreign exchange places. You will probably save yourself a few quid if you shop around. I usually buy at Marks & Spencer as they seem to be the cheapest on my local high street. Others have reported that the Post Office also offers good exchange rates.

Just got mine at Marks & Spencer Foreign Exchange who don't charge any commission, I got $1.56 to the £ today.

Took cash out of the building society and so avoided paying any charges there as well.

I've used the Post Office in the past as well who don't charge commission, but you have to wait a day or two to get the money, at M&S they had it all in stock.

I usuallt get mine from my bank. The rates are competitive and they don't charge me any commission.

Another vote for Marks & Spencer we've got our hol money from them for the last few years. They of course will post to your door.

Our post office will not take switch or cheques above a certain amount so that is more trouble than it's worth.

will probably be getting our travel insure from them too , as they quoted me a good price for annual family insurance.

I've always telephoned them. Sorry I don't have the number handy but I think it's in yellow pages.

Also any store will give it to you

Good link Karen, I too am a little obsessive about the exchange rate, Marks and Spencer's site looks good, I can see me becoming a somewhat regular visitor to it!

Another vote for M&S. Ordered ours on Monday morning and received them special delivery on Tuesday!!

Thanks for all of the info. Do you have to have a M & S card to be able to get your currency?

Another vote for OnlineFX, have used them many times, and they are a really good service. I always ask for low denomination notes, and they always come up with the goods.
