Currency exchange / paying for trip

Hey all,

I'm looking for some advice about taking advantage of the current excellent exchange rate. I was thinking of exchanging my Canadian money and putting it an American bank account. Can I pay off the balance for my trip to Disney with a bank transfer or a cheque? If I have to use my credit card I'm just going to get whatever the rate of the day is, right?

Any advice from fellow Canadians would be greatly appreciated.

The 'Sticky' above on US bank accounts and charge cards has a number of discussions on how others handle this.

Many of the Canadian DISers have both US bank accounts and US charge cards. Some also have accounts with US banks.

Most of the Canadian banks have US account options. Transfering from a Canadian $ to a US $ account often gets a better exchange rate than buying US $s.
