My husband and I purchases DVC last September while we were at the "World" - unfortunately on the way home I started feeling a little sick about the decision. So we recinded our agreement during the available time. (Although I kick my butt everyday for canceling it I know it made the most financial sense to us at the time) Now we are almost out of any debt except our home and are reconsidering. We only go once a year (Maybe) for a week and we would be splurging to stay in a 1 bedroom. I know the minimum purchase is 150 points - is it the same if you purchase a resale? Or can you purchase a 100 point resale even if you don't already own points. I know we would eventually want more - but starting out 100 would suit us just fine. Thanks for any help!

Disney won't let you buy less than 150 points unless you are already an owner, whether it's thru them or a resale.

Many people have reported buying a resale with less than the minimum buy in amount. Even my guide told me that Disney does not police the resale market. I dont think you will have a problem. Good Luck

To give an in between opinion. To say DVC doesn't police the resales is not quite accurate. All must be submitted to DVC for approval and they not infrequently excercise their ROFR. That doesn't mean they buy back the points, only give the parties a chance to resubmit if they want to. True DVC would prefer all owners to own at least 150 points in each use year they own but there have been those that slip through but very few. For most people though, it just doesn't make sense owning less than 150 unless a very small family with 1 or no kids (and no plans for others), don't mind a hotel type unit and plan to not go every year.
