I always like to be prepared and check for the locations of emergency exits no matter where i am (restaurants, libraries, etc.) I guess it makes me feel more secure.::yes::

Where are they in the Magic Kingdom? etc???:magnify: :moped:

Thanks!

That's a really good question! Ever since they had the night club fire in RI, i always check and see were the exits are. never noticed any "special" ones in the park.

I've never noticed any emergency exits for the general park areas either. This is an interesting question. (However, do other theme parks have emergency exits either though..... or places like zoo's and such.)

All buildings have (or must have) illuminated signs showing emergency exits if an emergency occurs requiring evacuation. I have seen exit signs in rides although I don't remember seeing them illuminated in every ride during normal operation.

I do not believe that there is a need to have labeled emergency exits from the park itself.

Should a localized outdoor emergency occur, cast members would be escorting the affected person(s) to the appropriate area or exit.

Should a wide area outdoor emergency occur, emergency exits from the park would do no good.

Incidentally emergency park exits are behind some of the doors or passageways marked "cast members only". During the Backstage Magic tour I have been through some of them.

I've heard when there are large crowds at MK, they sometimes open an exit near the Plaza Restaurant that goes backstage behind the Main Street buildings.

As stated, all attractions have MANY emergency exits through out the ride. As far as the parks them selves, there are different types of emergency exits that can be used by the CM's based on the nature of the situation. CM's will be directing people to those exits based on what they are told by their leaders. Disney has a lot of different ways to clear the parks, there are a lot of training sessions that go on for safety and emergencies. While I will not go into detail all the ways that the park can be cleared, I will tell you it can be cleared very quickly and all CM;s are trained on what they need to do.

And for Debbie B they do use the backstage area next to the Plaza Resturant and Tony's Town Square as a cut through during Spectro Magic when there is a certain amont of people in the park they will offer that to eleviate some of the traffic on Main Street.

I know that on many of the rides the emergency exits are positioned so that you can see them if you look backwards on the ride, but not clearly evident as you are going forward.

As LibertyBelle said- There are plans in place that will be implemented as needed- Saftey is something taken rather seriously and if the need arises to exit not using the main entrances it is completely and easily done- Each park, each ride and each show have their own plans that all the CMs are taught about respectivly-

As a guest you do not have access to those entrances and exits and I'd recommend not trying to find them as wandering backstage is a no-no (and will get ya kicked out if not arrested)

The Keys to the Kingdom tour allows you to see some of the evacuation routes; as I recall, none are labeled in places that visitors can see them, but they are often visible from spots on the tour.

The CM leading my tour indicated that there are three evacuation plans. As I recall, they are: A ("accelerated," meaning that the park is exited through the main gate; this plan was used on 9/11); B ("backstage," which would use the large parade gate next to Splash Mountain, among other routes); and C ("cover in place," such as for sudden weather).

(I assume that the specific details of the plans are intended to be confidential, but I note that the CM leading my tour provided the above information without prompting.)
