OK, I care about animals as much as anyone, I don't go to the circus and I buy only free-range chicken...
But this is one of the stupidest things I've ever read!
Not only is it a cartoon, but it's a series of excellent children's books! Yes, the first one always made me a little sad when "George was caught", but hey, they have to explain how he came to live with the man in the yellow hat somehow.
I've always thought George was sort of a metaphor for a small child, whose curiosity gets him into trouble, and who is just learning how to get along in the world. To me, it seems like that is what's so appealing about it. I remember as a kid, thinking how fun it would be to do some of the things George did, how crazy those things were, and how my antics were nothing compared to George's!
Animal cruelty? That's just crazy.

I was making fun of the people in the article, and just to make them mad I took my kids to see it today. No harm no foul I understand the mistake..
