Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

Hi All

Just looking for some feedback on the above item. My birthday is next week and hubby asked what I wanted, I am debating getting one of these. Saw one at Costco - 1 1/2 qt size for about $40.00.

Anyone have one, can you fill me in on the good and the bad? Thanks.

Dreaming of fresh strawberry ice cream this summer.

Hey, Brooklyn Neighbor, I was at Costco yesterday, too, AND I was looking at the ice cream maker, also. Isn't that funny?

Thanks everyone! You have me convinced. I will also purchase the Ben & Jerry book.

Did I mention that I have lost 35 lbs.:cool1: since last year with WW and this is probably not in my best interest:rotfl:. I am hoping that I can doctor some recipes to make more WW friendly. But I still rather have a small amount of real good homemade ice cream than that stuff from the supermarket.

Will send hubby to Costco this weekend. Thanks again for all the input.

OKWAnneMarie - nice to meet a neighbor, I am in Bay Ridge, what about you? Loved the red ice cream maker, my favorite color and my favorite treat all rolled into one. That Costco is crazy busy though all the time, but what can you do?

Congrats on your weight loss.

The great thing about the Ben and Jerry's book is that it talks about the different ways to make ice cream and how you can substitute. like I love my ice cream made with Heavy Whipping Cream but that is the least healthy. Also, it does have several recipes for fruit ice creams. Alot of times it tells you to put them in a sugar mixture to sweeten but maybe you could substitute splenda or such for the sugar?

I'm in Park Slope/Greenwood Heights, not far from you or Costco. I'm in Costco about once per week. It's been open since 1996 and I still can't figure out when it's going to be crowded and when it will be empty!
Enjoy your ice cream!
