Hello,

We will be at Disney World February 5-12. I am considering trying that Cuban restaurant in Downtown Disney. What are your opinions on taste and price? Is there a menu online that I can look at? Is reservations for dinner on a Sunday night necessary this time of year?

Thanks.

I think it is really bad and overpriced. However, I am from Dominican Republic and use to really good latin food.

We ate there for dinner last May and thought it was horrible. It was a $90 for dinner and the food was bland, cold and not authentic. I was very disappointed.

Ok I might be the odd one here but my family and I had to go Bongo's every time or else our trip wasn't complete. We really like the food and the atmosphere; the staff is really nice but the place can get really crowded. I'm from Costa Rica so the food to me was great. However, the last time I was there was probably two or three years ago.

My Hubby and I ate there before we went to Cirque du Soleil last May. We found the food to be poor, the background music to be too loud and distracting and the prices high. I would recommend any of the other restaurants in the area - just make sure to make your ADRs in advance because we found they fill up quickly.

There's a really good Cuban restaurant very close to the parks, which we ate at one time - it was all delicious. The restaurant is called Havanas.

I don't like the food inside bongos but I do like the window on the side of it that you can get sandwhiches and other small things like croquetas and papas rellenas. It's super affordable and these are things that generally can't be screwed up. I grew up with awesome cuban food and bongos is not it imho.

Yes, the background music is terribly loud....we couldn't talk at all while the band was playing, and they played on and on and on and on..... :rockband:

We really enjoyed Bongo's but didn't have any of the noise problems mentioned probably because we ate outside, something I usually hate but it was lovely at this restaurant. They don't take reservations, not through Disney nor directly. Over Spring Break 2005, we had planned to eat there but honestly, we got off the bus at the wrong place at DTD. I walked ahead to get us a table right at dinner opening so we'd be sure to make our Wishes Cruise (yes it IS 4 hours from 4pm to 8pm but my dad freaks if we cut things "close" lol). Anyway, I booked on ahead to get a table and was informed when I got there they don't take reservations and you won't be seated without the whole party. They decided they didn't want to walk all that way after all, so I had to meet them back at the Earl of Sandwich (whew...got my work out for a "non park" day). We were disappointed to miss Bongo's but in the end my dad was just too crabby to walk the length of DTD.

I love their empanatas(s/p). I did my college program at downtown disney, and lived off those things.

As an alternative, consider Columbia in Celebration. It is a Cuban restaurant with several locations in Florida. It is very good and generally easy to get into.
