CT disers (or anyone else), have you been to Lake Compounce?

I would vote Lake Compounce too. I took my neice (8) and nephew (6) last year a few times and they loved it. She likes to go on tube rides and he doesn't. The park is small enough that I could stay in the kids pool with him and still watch her as she walked up the stairs for the tube rides. She knows not to go anywhere with strangers and yell loud if someone is bothering her. But I could see her the whole time she was in line. She had to report to me when she got off the tube before going up into line again. The do have two water fetures that kids love, the wave pool and the ship that dumps water on people. My nephew, the chicken, didn't like the ship but stayed in the wave pool near the outlet for the tubes where the water hardly moved.
I haven't been to Quassy in years, but the did a big overhaul a few years ago when a kid died on one of the rides. I am not sure about their water stuff other than the lake and the wooden float you could jump off of.

We used to take DS to Lake Compounce every year when he was younger and we all liked it alot. We also went to Quassey once, to see what it was like. I had the impression that LC was cleaner, classier, and somewhat landscaped while Quassey seemed dirtier and just thrown together on a blacktop. But then, we started going to LC prior to going to Disney for the first time and Quassey after our first Disney trip - many parks look dirty after going to Disney.

I thought Lake Compounce was closed about 10 years ago.

I was there almost 20 years ago -- I sang onstage with Barry Manilow there. :)

Nope, Compounce is still open.

I think that Lake Compounce was one of the country's original amusement parks. As for whether they have enough for young kids, we took our kids when they were young and there was a whole section geared towards them. It was clean and not overrun with city kids. Rye Playland definitely has a problem with being overrun with city kids.

We had to wait on some lines, but nothing was terrible.
