I've been to CSR before and stayed in the Ranchos. I really liked the look of the Casitas, and like the pics I've seen of them, the courtyards, and the rooms in that section.

When I went last time, I remember reading somewhere (don't know where) that the Casitas were noisier because of the convention/conference guests.

Has anyone stayed in the Casitas? Do you recommend them? Is that true about the noise level? Should I request this on my ressie? I'm not concerned about being closer to El Centro, the bus stop or the dig site. I just want a nice room in a beautiful, reasonably quiet setting.

Help please!

We stayed in the Cabanos because we wanted to be near to everything but in a quiet spot and liked the idea of only having a ground floor and one floor above rather than 3 floors. We walked around the Casitas a lot as I used the hairdressers and my other half the gym which are located there. We found it very quiet during the day as its used a lot by those who are at conventions (because its closest to the convention rooms and bars) but in the evening it did get louder with adult voices rather than childrens. I can tolerate kids having fun and being noisy better than adults sitting around with cocktails and loud voices so its what you can put up with I suppose. It was very beautiful being the 'cosmopolitan' part of the site but we preferred stepping out of our building straight onto the sandy beach with a hammock to lie in under the stars.

We stayed there last December and found it to be the opposite - very very quiet in the Casitas (we were in Casitas 4) but noisy in the Cabanas. When we checked in we had originally wanted the Cabanas but were told there was no availability so we settled for the Casitas, which turned out to be gorgeous and we were so pleased. Cabanas were full of groups of young people and families and one night security had to be called because one group decided on having a 'party' on the beach in the early hours of the morning.

We have stayed in the Cabanas and the Casitas. I like the Casitas better. The quiet pool was nicer. It just felt nicer to me.

I have stayed at CSR twice, both times in Casitas, and we found no noise whatsoever. I prefer the Casitas section because it is close to El Centro.

We stayed in Cassitas 1 this past April. We did not experience any noise or excess traffic. We were right near the elevators as well. I personally wanted to stay in the Cabanas as they are in between the Dig Site and food court but we were pleasantly surprised by the Cassitas. The courtyards are very pretty. :flower:

We stayed in Casitas 1 and there was hardly any noise at all. In fact we are headed back there in two weeks and have requested the same section! :flower:

Thanks for all your feedback. I think I'll request the Casitas and see what happens. I'd rather not stay in the ranchos again just because I stayed there once before and I don't love the theming.

SarahJ - if you remember when you get back, let me know how this stay was.

Thanks.

Vanyel I will let you know how it was. Am really looking forward to it! Going back in September too! Again to CSR!

We have stayed in Ranchos which was really nice but quite a hike from the food court. Next trip we were in Casitas 4, on the 3rd floor. We had an amazing view of the lake. This section is beautiful, relaxing and quiet. We dont care for the look of the Cabanas and we prefer to be a few floors up rather than on the ground.
Highly recommend Casitas!!

I have to admit that most of you gave me the answer I had hoped for. Thanks a lot for the reassurance. If anyone else wants to weigh in, I'll be happy to hear more :)

We stayed in Casitas (I think bldg 3) last June and loved it. We had a completely covered walk to El Centro, good for those afternoon rain showers. We liked the courtyards and noticed no noise, except for some reason there was a fireworks show one night about 11:30. I don't know if it was for a convention or some kind of test, but it was surprising.
