csr or swan ans daulphin

I am going to wdw from oct 25 to nov 1 I would like to stay at a nice moderate or delux hotel but do not want to spend a fortune. I see that I could stay ot the s&d for 139$/night which seems pretty good but then I would have to buy seperate hopper tickets and book my flight seperatly whereas csr package with flight and tickets would be about 1700$ I was wondering if anyone knwe how much I would pay ti stay at the s&d? would it be less? and If id does cost more thancsr is it worth it? which hotel is better?????????

We are staying at CSR in June and found it was cheaper to buy airfare,Hotel , and tickets seperatly.
You might look into that.

Ok Casidy I need more info:

How many passes for adults? Children?

Park Hopper, or Park Hopper Plus passes?

Do you want the passes for the full 7 days? I would only want passes for 26-31 because these are your full days, or even 5 days & take 1 day to relax, check out different resorts, play mini golf, etc.

Do beds matter to you? Swan has 2 heavenly queens, Dolphin has 2 oversized doubles, & CSR has 2 doubles.

Swan/Dolphin are considered deluxe hotels, & if you join starwood frequent stays program (www.spg.com) which is free, you can get free room upgrades.

ok csmommy I have no children so my dh and i would prefer a king bed. we really like the new heavenly beds at the swan. As for passes we still have i day left on and old 7 day hopper pass and were thinking anout getting a 5 day pass this year with the day we have left that makes 6 days witch is fine because we want to take 1 day off to go to the waterslides and shopping. The flight tickets will probably be around 400$ and the pass is about 300$ (i think) so is is the hotel going to cost more than 1000$ because the csr is about 1700$ alltogether.

also witch do u prefer? which resort is nicer? I don't care much for on site dining as we will be eating in the parks anyway what matters to me is transportation to disney and that the grounds around the resort are nice. (like the pool and the gardens or whatever) pls any info would help. thanks!

Hi Casidy - I just finished checking hotwire. I can get roundtrip air, rental car and Swan for 9 nights (11/27 through 12/6) from PA for a little more than $1,200 for two of us. If you are looking for air, car & hotel you may want to check hotwire before you book. When I priced air, car & swan for the $129 gov worker rate, it was several hundred more than the hotwire price. And if I am willing to fly into Daytona (I think that is about 1 1/2 hours away) I would save an additional $250. The only drawback is that you don't know flight times (they guarantee that there would be no more than 1 plane change and since there are no direct flights to Orlando from the Harrisburg airport, I couldnt book a direct flight if I booked directly with an airline). Plus they guarantee that is will not be a redeye flight. So if you are willing to take the chance with flight times you may save alot of money. The Swan & Dolphin plus other downtown Disney resorts were available. Have a great trip!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

From what I have seen for your dates, 10/25-11/1, I do not see the discount rate of $139.00. I copied this:

so this is not in your time frame.
And this:
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is currently offering ALL EARS NET Readers a Standard View room for only $182.50 (1/16/03 - 4/30/03) and only $162.50 (5/1/03 - 12/26/03), based on rate schedule availability. Taxes and resort fee are additional.

So right there your cost is higher.
6nights x $162.50=$975.00 plus tax $112.13, plus $10 resort fee(sometimes waviable)x 6 nights=$60+ $975+$112.13=$1147.50 that leaves $552.50 for flights & PH's.

So we are over your limit. But first does the $1700 include tax? Second its only over by $147.50, and the & $1700 is for a moderate, Swan/Dolphin is a deluxe. CSR is one of the resorts people are being directed to since POR is being renovated, so it might be a bit crowded. If you can swing the extra I would go for The Swan.
