Hi All :)

Currently weighing up two resorts....CSR or Saratoga Springs Resort?

Has any one stayed at either, and if so which was your favourite and is the transport just as good/frequent from one as the other?

Thanks in advance :worship::worship:

Prior to joining DVC CSR was our resort of choice - we loved it.

Buses and pools are generally more empty as it is a convention resort. Main pool is nicely themed and the quiet pools are quiet and relaxing :goodvibes

Resort is very pretty too.

If you are looking at free dining CSR only gets the QSDP.

Thank you so much for your help!:)

Im between minds, to go with the free dining at SSR or stay at CSR and pay the extra to upgrade from QSDP to the regular DP as when I do this the price for SSR and CSR are basically the same?

EEEK im so confused lol and hoping to book Monday and I really dont know which to choose :confused3

personally I'd go for the delux resort over CS which is a moderate resort if its working out the same-ish. No competition in my mind. Saratoga is beautiful and walking distance to DTD or a short boat ride. Another reason...CS has a convention centre and we have been there (visiting) and it just loses some Disney Magic in my eyes with all the people there for a work purpose. :)

AWESOME! thank you so much for your help! I think my mind is pretty much made up now x The only thing that worries me is the ease of transport to the parks from Saratoga springs for lets say a character breakfast??

The transport from both the resorts you are looking at is going tobe on par with each other. So don't let that be a factor really. Have you had a look at the Trip report from APRIL2012 on the trip report board? It's really good and they stayed at SSR in April. :)

We would choose SSR and request either being in the Congress Park section, so you can easily walk to Downtown Disney and the bus transportation which will take you to the other Disney hotels and their restaurants if needed. Or if you want to be close to the main pool and Community Hall then request being in 'The Springs' section.

If not already done so and you have a little spare time check out the following links, first one shows a map of SSR and the second one has lots of photo's and info with over 2,000 threads.

Below the photo's in thread #1 there's also lots of other links.

Good luck in your selection.

I'm in general agreement with queendisney, but with a few caveats. We're DVC members and Saratoga Springs is our home resort. We love it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. It's fairly big and quite spread out which gives it a lovely tranquil feel (other than around the main pool and the Carriage House which is the central building that houses check-in, the eateries and the resort shop) but for some, that's a negative. It's categorised as a deluxe and the rooms are certainly on a par with other deluxes, but they have the external concrete walkways normally associated with the moderates, rather than internal, carpeted corridors. In other words, the units are motel style, rather than hotel style. It's not a big deal for us, but it's a definite distinction. The biggest downside for me is that it doesn't have a decent restaurant or bar. The Turf Club is okay, but it's the only table service offering and it isn't on a par with the signature restaurants of the other deluxes. The adjoining lounge could be alright, but it serves as a holding area for the Turf Club and it always seems to be teeming with kids running around. To add insult to injury, its location means it's used as a passage for folks heading to the boat dock. It's a real design flaw in my mind. Also, the bar is not much more than a serving hatch in the wall. These shortcomings, though, are largely offset by the fact that you're within walking distance of Downtown Disney.

Coronado Springs is an oft-overlooked gem as far as the moderates are concerned. People bemoan its convention feel and the distance of some of the rooms from the main facilities, but it's really very pretty with its lakeside setting, and in some ways feels more upscale than SSR. Rix Lounge in particular is a very adult offering in a way Disney usually doesn't do well (perhaps not surprising as it's operated by a third party) although it's maybe a little incongruous in that setting.

Transportation to the parks is by bus from both resorts and there's nothing really to choose between the two from that point of view. Obviously SSR has the not inconsiderable advantage of being close to Downtown Disney.

Here are a couple of video tours, both of which give a really good overview of the two resorts.

I cannot thank you all enough :flower3::flower3:

I think torn is the word im looking for.......... at this point I think ill end up flipping a coin!!:laughing:

I have NO idea why but my gut instinct is telling me to go with CSR :rotfl2:
I think its because Im not a huge horse fan (such a silly reason) But on the other hand the kitchenette area in SSR would be a nice addition......hummmm decisions decisions I will probably flip flop between the two between now and booking Monday!

If I book CSR ill be upgrading to the regular dining plan from the QSDP does anyone know if the upgrade prices have been discounted more than usual with the offer thats on at the moment or is that price just the regular one?????

It is a tricky one, CSR is beautiful especially of an evening but we also stayed at SS in the Congress Park area with the DDP last year and are doing the same end of oct this year, mainly because we love the short walk to the Downtown Disney Village Marketplace! The only time we really eat at the hotel is if we have breakfast or a quick snack at night and it is good to have the extra amenities!

I know, its so tricky isnt it????

Ive gone today from being totally CSR to SSR and back again about 6 times :confused3:confused3

The one thing that might swing it for me is that Im going with my mum, who is not a Disney nut and is truthfully terrified of visiting the states.......yes im being a terrible daughter but a good one at the same time and pushing her a little outside of her comfort zone as unless I do she will continue to go to Lanzarote twice a year every year to the same resort I just want her to experience the extraordinary.
I say im being terrible but good, the good comes under the fact that im footing the bill :scared1: But im sure she will love it and the memories will be there for ever.

So.... with that said, between the two resorts would be more adult friendly and possibly a little quieter? from your own experiences?

Oh geez, they are both quite 'adult', I have stayed at both and as said earlier they are both breathtakingly lovely, if I had to choose for the quietest I think I would say Saratoga and plus you can get a lovely boat ride from there to the village too! :)

Again I cannot thank you enough, especially for your patience :):)

Feeling like a totally disaster annoying everyone with my questions! Just its a tough decision and its a lot of money, plus I really really want it to be extra special for her :lovestruc:lovestruc

Lol, wherever you stay you will love it, Disney resorts are so good it's just too difficult to choose, (that's my excuse to keep going back lol)! CS is more mexican themed and colourful (in a relaxing way) and SS is more laid back with a New England style setting. Are you staying in a studio or a bedroom? In the studio at SS it has a double bed and a pullout bed settee instead of the standars 2 beds!

Despite the fact that CSR has the more adult bar, for the two of you, I think I'd be inclined towards SSR. Our favourite area is Grandstand. It's an easy walk to the Carriage House, but not so close that you're aware of it and, from there, you have the shortest walk to Downtown Disney West Side. Congress Park gives you views of Downtown Disney and is the closest for walking to DTD Marketplace. Grandstand is the closest area to the boat dock.

That's a good point. In a studio at SSR, one of you will have to sleep on the bed settee. At CSR, you'd have two queens.

Hi All!

Just an update, some of you might have seen it else where but I BOOKED woohooo ok its a few weeks booked at this stage and im so excited.

After all my back and forth, I went with CS for 10 days June 21st 2013 :banana: as SSR only had the one bed as pointed out by my helpful disers :):):thumbsup2 Thank you thank you so much for all your help you guys are AWESOME :cool1::cool1::love:

LET THE PLANNING BEGIN :yay::dance3:
